Do you know how many of the UAL guys took the offer from Skywest? Did it make it very far down the furloughed guys/gals? Also, is there any news (of course I mean rumors) of recalls to UAL soon?

I know that of the 40 new-hire bro spots, 4 were filled by poolies. I talked to one of them a couple of days ago. He's an intern the the CP office in SLC. He said that he and 3 other poolies are in, and I believe he thought the rest were United furloughs. Maybe they couldn't fill the 40 spots with United pilots?

Wow, I would be surprised if only 37 of the 1400+ took that job. I thought that it would be more than that. Can any of you UAL furlough guys shed some light on this? Also, once a UAL pilot turns it down does SKW have to offer it again if they need to hire later?

I'm not really surprised.
Keep in mind they are going to be on the bottom of the list on reserve flying the emb for 2nd year pay at 75 hours thats like 2000 a month before taxes. Not to mention they are in one of the worst cities in the nation, fresno. Probably a 2 leg commute for most.

I think if they really love to fly they would take it but I think they could make more than 2k in their home city doing something while they wait for united to recall.

It's second year RJ pay which is about $2700 a month. While not ideal, it may be more than an unemployment check.

RJ classes are starting the the beginning of October. Awards in a couple of weeks. 30 in the class.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that someone had said that in the first 2 classes there are 37 out of 40 UAL guys? Anyone know about that? How many Poolies out there have been offered a class date?

There were 36 slots for UAL furloughees IAW Jets For Jobs. 20 of those were for the 7 Sep class.
I would anticipate some additional slots (above the 4) for poolies; I don't have any numbers for furloughees in the 27 Sep class but I interviewed today and am basing that off of the seniority of those in the room with me.

I can't speak for the rest of the furloughees, but I would imagine that most have already found other jobs. I've been furloughed for 15 months now and was doing other stuff when this became available. I'm sure that some didn't get the word that Skywest Jets for Jobs was available. And others weren't able to make it to class that quickly.
SKYW only has to offer once, in accordance with the pertinent section that I posted above.

12 of us interviewed today, another 8 tomorrow. 19 will go in the 7 Sep class. I was originally slotted for that class but had to request to slide to the next class on 27 Sep for family reasons. They are allowing me to go in the 27 Sep class - my understanding is that the 20th slot will be filled by a poolie.
So, technically, 12 takers as of today and almost certainly another 8 tomorrow.

Second year plus override, taking it closer to $3K/mo. More than a few of the 12 of us have been on unemployment for the last year+. Others had jobs paying less than SKYW pay. That's not my personal situation, but it's the case for a lot of us.
Times are tough; I spoke to just about all of my fellow furloughees and we are, to a man, very grateful for the chance to fly with SKYW. All but three of us are on our second furloughs with UAL. If 5 years of furlough the first time around didn't humble us, this second one certainly has.

I've already posted more than enough for anyone at SKYW to figure out who I am. I know the current situation of ~7 others but will not post any details specific to them, as my conversations with them were private. I think that everyone else in the room would agree with what I wrote above. If not, you can PM me and I will edit my post.

Final notes - I was extremely impressed with SKYW staff's professionalism. From talking to guys that were at SKYW during our last furlough, I am aware of SKYW's concerns after the last round of UAL furloughees ... there were a few bad apple furloughees that took jobs there; I'm sure that they don't want a repeat. Almost half of the 12 worked for SKYW during our last furlough. That right there says a lot about SKYW; if it was a bad job, they wouldn't be back.
SKYW is a class organization and I look forward to working there.
