The United pilots have a grievance that is at the system board because the express carriers did not hire the number of furloughees they should have based on the number of 70 seaters they acquired as mainline downsized. It will be interesting to see how this will be remedied.

My bad; I was under the impression that new aircraft couldn't be placed in service prior to hiring furloughees. I did not know that the planes were placed in service ex ante. Either way, Skywest's crew staffing is greater than the number of furloughees that Skywest is required to hire so it's a net benefit for Skywest's pilots.

I don't think that is correct Andy. Prior to the 2 announced new hire classes, how many United furloughees were hired this time around by Skywest in the jets for jobs program and how many jets did they expand by? I passed up the other Express carriers as Skywest is the only one with California domiciles waiting for them to hire into the RJ, which I believe was the intent of the agreement. Now they finally offer furloughees positions and they are in the Brasilia? I flew that airplane 22 years ago, I'm not going back. My guess is that is what Skywest was hoping United pilots would say.

Coto, I don't know. The person to ask is Todd, the furlough coordinator.

Default UAL/SkyWest LOA

If able, can someone post the current Jets for Jobs LOA between UAL and SkyWest? Just curious what the specifics are. My general impression is that with over 1,400 UAL furloughs (APC #), it might be a very long time, if ever, before folks in the pool start training. No real way to know without reading the actual document.

I don't think there is gonna be much left of a pool when they decide to start draining it...

No reading of the LOA 03-22 is required to say that very few UAL pilots will sign on for EMB-120. There is a formula that works well. Just take the 1437 furloughed pilots at UAL and find the square root of that number. That will be the likely number of UAL pilots participating plus or minus a few.

I don't think that they'll fill all 36 spots for the bro.

Here's the pertinent section:
A Participating Feeder Carrier shall make offers for new hire positions to Eligible Furloughed Pilots in a number equal to five (5) times the number of Qualifying Aircraft to be operated and on terms described herein. Of these five (5) offers, at least three (3) will be offers for new hire positions in Small Jet aircraft. Such new hire position offers need not be in Qualifying Aircraft.
Once such offers have been made, even if the Participating Feeder Carrier has not been provided with a sufficient number of Eligible Furloughed Pilots to fill the new hire positions, the Participating Feeder Carrier's obligation to make offers for the purpose of operating Qualifying Aircraft under the terms of this letter shall be satisfied.
