FARNBOROUGH: Republic signs for 24 more Embraer 190s
US airline group Republic Airlines has signed a letter of intent to buy 24 more Embraer 190 jets in a deal valued at $960 million signed today at the Farnborough Air Show.
Under the agreement Republic will begin taking delivery of the first six E-190s in the first half of next year. The Republic group is the largest E-Jets operator with 145 in its fleet including 76 Embraer 170s, 54 Embraer 175s and 15 Embraer 190s.
"This new agreement confirms our commitment to the E-Jet family," says Republic Airways Holdings chief executive Bryan Bedford. "We chose them again because passenger comfort, mission performance - especially in hot and high markets like Denver - and compelling economics are hallmarks of the E-Jet product line."
Bedford adds the airline has flexibility through conversion rights to the Embraer 195 in a 116-seat single class configuration.

This is good news for any furloughed Midwest, Frontier or Lynx pilot. Let's hope that the additioanal flying isn't "canceled out" by cuts in the 50 seat fleet.

Nope...announced today. If he converts them to 195's, BB will plan on "de-activating" 17 seats.

Negative. New aricraft is not additional flying. BB is replacing F9 A319s guys, so this is worse than before for F9, Lynx, Midwest guys. Also bad for the RAH because they dont get to upgrade to the 320 like they all wanted to.

BB's last letter said he was selling 3 A318's and buying 6 A320's. Not much of a reduction.

You truly hate RAH to be this blind. Republic just bought 6 A320s while selling a few 318s and 1 170. The 319s aren't going anywhere. Bedford is going to grow this thing aggressively over the coming years. Hes never been one to sit still on anything. These 190s are just the first step.

Doesn't half of your company get paid the same thing to fly either airplane? But this is just a hobby and it's not about pay anyways. Does the same thing about lil' guys that drive big trucks apply to RJ's?
