Island Air Questions
I have read all the posts I could find about Island Air. I was wondering if anybody out there has any personal experience with them and anybody tried to apply? Also how much flight time is accured per month, upgrade time, and any other good info. I currently work at a 121 carrier and have Dash 8 time as SIC.
Thanks
Thanks

I like Island Air, 60-90 hours a month, realistic 1 1/2 - 2 years, but with Dash time maybe shorter. Only about 90 pilots so great guys to fly with and know every one. Easy interview if you get through the IQ test, kinda tricky but just focus, but those test are a huge go no go decision for hiring you

Thanks mowiepilot
Should a new pilot expect to just be put on reserve? I noticed their is a big difference between the normal monthly guarantee and the reserve guarantee. Also it sounds like you are getting more 400's, would a new hire have anychance of being placed in a 4 or would it be into the 100.

Big dog,
unless you are independently wealthy, or have family that will not only house you but feed you too, don't go to Hawaii. I spent a year flying helicopters there and was making good money, $55/hr + tips and I had to live in the biggest sh%thole on the planet.
By far my biggest complaint is the people.... no offense mowie, truly, but the people in Hawaii are butt stupid, crime is out of control, and the goverment is soooo corupt, they could make a Louisiana Govenor blush.
To try and do it on 1/3 of what I was making... out of the question.
IMHO,

i agree with both stick and rama, a bit expensive to live - but I moved out when I was 17 and was able to handle, rama - maybe stick just watched a little too much Dog the bounty hunter ... lol... but yeah a bit too much mainlanders moving out now a days

Stick, I'm very sorry you didn't enjoy your time here in Hawaii and I'm glad you moved back to the mainland because we got enough disgruntled haoles here. Keep wiggling your stick elsewhere.
Mowie, are most of the pilots considering making Moku their final resting point in their airline career especially with the new Q400 payscales? Or are most of them still using it as a stepping stone for something bigger? I got an interview coming up but can't decide what to do if I'm lucky enought to get in. Many have called it a lateral move from my company to yours (my company being the one by 26 right at Charlie and the flying boxes). Are you satisfied overall with your company? Then again, I heard you Q400 guys are flying less than 10 days a month right now but still getting paid the full salary right? Sick!

Lets lay off the "Haole" crap...
I could use some pretty offensive terms to describe the natives but I don't, please extend the same courtesy to me. Golden Rule, boyz.
Why do so many ethnic types think it's cool for they themselves to use racial epithets, but then would scream like a stuck pig if I did it to them???

winnebago, when is your interview??
there a few guys planning on staying for awhile, a few captains have been there for a long time. but i guess most are looking for >20,000 lbs time to compete for the big jets. as you prob. know AAH and HAL are not hiring so any other major would be on the mainland...
