Era in Bethel, Alaska
Well, my touting of Era will cease now. They are pulling their Twin Otters out of Bethel. Sounds like the Anchorage operation will still run for now. Maybe the Pen Air guys are right though. They will get rid of that too. I was really hoping the fixed wing operation would stay up and running. I believe there used to be someone on here that flew the twotter in Bethel for them. Maybe he can shed some light, as I don't have direct access to the Era pilots themselves.

ERA AVIATION CLOSES BETHEL HUB
ANCHORAGE, AK – On July 27, 2006, Era Aviation halted operations out of its Bethel hub. This action was taken in order to better serve its markets in Southcentral Alaska.
“The Bethel operation, which accounted for only 15% of the company’s entire revenue, was Era’s only unprofitable route system and was incurring substantial losses,” according to Paul Landis, President and CEO of Era Aviation. “All of Era’s other routes are profitable. With fuel costs in Bethel at an all time high and no relief, there was no point in delaying this decision. However, the closure of the Bethel operation will further strengthen Era’s financial position and ensure the company’s profitability. This decision will also provide us the opportunity to enhance services in our Southcentral markets, particularly Kenai and Homer.”
Era will continue to provide passenger check in and ticket sales for Alaska Airline in Bethel. Passengers holding tickets on Era Aviation for travel on Era to and from the Bethel hub can apply for a refund at the Era Ticket Counter in Bethel or request a refund through the company web site at www.FlyEra.com.
“Era Aviation would like to thank our customers in the Y-K Delta for the many years they have flown with us. While it is never easy to make a decision such as this one, our company must constantly evaluate our business model and make decisions that assure the continued viability of the company,” said Landis.

End of another era
"Discontinuing the use of the Twin Otter also marks the end of an era for the DeHavilland aircraft in Alaska. Era had operated passenger flights with Twin Otter aircraft in the YK Delta area since 1983. Era had five of the Twin Otter aircraft servicing 16 villages when it quit flying on July 28.
Era Aviation was the only scheduled commercial operator using the 1960s-era aircraft in Alaska.
Landis said an announcement about refleeting the airline for flights in Southcentral Alaska with Beechcraft 1900 aircraft will come in early August."
Thats the latest on the street here in ANC..
