-15 Q's starting delivery, they expect to use their options for more. No plans for the Q in HOU yet, all 15 new Q's going to EWR
-HOU is a senior base, don't expect it
-Plan is to run a class every 2 weeks
-Aug.20th class is for the Q, expected to be mesaba pilots. Aug 10th last class for new hires until they get responses from mesaba pilots. I'm sure they will continue to interview because they have to fill the classes so if not enough mesaba guys fill the class, they put in new hires.

Can anyone who works there comment on ground training and sim training?

The Qs might be going to HOU? Is management trying to compete with the Super Shuttle? I can just see the lines they would build with that:
Day one: HOU-IAH-HOU-IAH-HOU-IAH-HOU-IAH-HOU-IAH-HOU-IAH-CLL all with 15 minute turns.

Now THAT is one good rumor

(Sorry Graham, I just had to poke fun)

Haha, no problem. It's a good thing I said the Q's (at least the 15 new ones) are all going to EWR. I was trying to quiet the rumor they were going to HOU...

Seems like Colgan is flooding climbto350 with ads for pilots, sim instructors, and ground instructors. I can understand ads for pilots, but they've had sim instructor ads for a long time. Is it a fast revolving door for the instructors?

I do not know about that.

We had a conf call 2 days ago with mgmt and they were asked about the 15 Q's that are set to start to be delivered next month. We all know the 2010 deliveries (6) are going to EWR to join the other 14Q's but the home for the other 9 are not yet confirmed. Mgmt says they are still waiting to hear from CAL on where they want them and hope to know sometime this month so that a vacancy bid can be released.

Popular theory is they are going to CLE because we will start flying through CLE in October to ORD and BWI (confirmed on the call)

Oh ok, that would make sense. I just posted what Chuck said in our interview in early July, he thought all 15 Q's would be going to EWR. Obviously things are still up in the air and can change quickly!

I know IAH is senior but exactly how senior? How long is it currently to hold IAH as a reservist?

Also, (talking about the Saab) how long is it to hold a line in IAD or even outstation, and what are the lines like at the bottom end?

Thanks

People in the last class to finish up training are going all over the system, I think 6 of 11 heading to IAH. It really depends on what is available at that time during the class.

Reserve times are really hard to predict with all the hiring that is going on at the moment. I wish I had a better answer for this question but it seems that no one really knows....

Reserve will be pretty long down in IAH. There are guys down there who have been there for over a year and still sitting reserve.

You will fly more in IAD
