All you people on here looking for "insight" and wanting to "stay on topic" so you can get real, helpful information about Colgan...
Has it not yet occurred to a single one of you that all the complaining, opinions, name-calling, and thread closings regarding this topic ARE the very information that you desire? It's like everyone is desperately searching for an answer that isn't there. No one is magically going to tell you, "Oh yea, QOL and pay are great at Colgan. Chuck and the management team are stand-up guys. And the airplanes are perfectly safe." Don't start on me about being unemployed and "times are tough." I've been furloughed for 21 months. You know the answers to your questions. Only you can decide what to do with your life and your career.

Don't go to colgan, I had an old flight instructor friend of mine die working for them, they were ferrying a plane from CapeCod back to NYC and was press to go with a known control surface problem that needed to be fixed in NYC, for some reason there was not a tool in CapeCod to repair propery so it was "airworthy" to take to NYC but on takeoff it crashed killing both crew members.....

This thread is starting to resemble every other Colgan thread.
Lets try to keep it on topic in regards to Colgan interviews.
There are MORE than enough threads about what people at Colgan think about it, what people outside of Colgan think about it and what people think they think about it. If you think there are not enough feel free to start another.
This thread needs to stay on topic or will get closed.

I interviewed, 1400/270 ME currently instructing 3 days a week.
They told me I did not pass the verbal interview portion, despite me answering every question perfectly. The only thing that I might have done that they did not like is I asked what sort of changes have been made since 3407. The look on both peoples faces was telling, that was the only time the wrote anything down, otherwise questions were super super basic. No joke less complicated then commercial check ride stuff. If they are not proud of the changes they made and not willing to accept any responsibility for not doing their homework previously then that is no company i'd ever want to get near. Being that arrogant something will happen again. Staff from the company were nice but none of the pilot staff struck me as really liking their jobs. Body language told it all. I was even older then one of the check-airman and I'm only 27.
Not too sure what they are looking for, most of the outgoing applicants that exhibited signs of leadership qualities were sent home packing, perhaps it's just sheep they need, that will follow all orders right or wrong. I was not impressed.
Surprising thing during the interview never once asked a single question to determine my decision making ability or my willingness to stand up to a bad captain.

I am not sure that the majority of Colgan bashing is deserved.... yes, they have their problems but so do many others.
In this tight job market, several employers are exhibiting an increasing disregard for their potential and current employees. Spirit, Midwest(republic), Comair, UPS etc... Be on the look out for those with previous good reputations to slip downward. It seems that some employers choose to crap on people because they can during these bad economic times,,, there are many hungry un-employed persons ready and waiting for a job.
Read my post in the AE flight benefit thread. If you believe what I say is true,,, then maybe we could cut Colgan a bit of slack.

Other than the CFI initial, I think ALL busts will need to be explained.
A "couple" of busted 141 checkrides.....
Only went for the interview experience...
the Saab might have been a deal breaker....
that just sounds lovely for $21/hr....
logbook check was a long process....
both of the check airmen were younger.....
For someone who only went for the "interview experience", you sure sound bitter.
For everyone else thinking about interviewing, here are some facts:
You will be asked about failed checkrides.
Your logbook will be examined.
First year pay is $21/hour with 75 hours guaranteed.
You WILL be on reserve until you can hold a line (how long it will take to hold is line is anyone's guess).
Reserve is almost always 5 on 2 off (commuting is hard to impossible).
You will probably be assigned to the Saab.
Some of our pilots and check airmen are young.
Colgan (and probably all other regionals) don't have the time, money, or the need to help a new hire build character or struggle through his mistakes.
If those obvious things are deal breakers, don't waste your time on the interview.
