Already received official word that there will be NO base closures or furloughs as a result and hiring is still going on as planned. That doesnt mean ORD will shrink to a base smaller than LAX was and then eventually close but as of now it will remain. But who the heck with 1500 hours would actually come here is beyond me.

MEC Officer Malfeasance
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It appears that Tony Gutierrez and Dave Ryter, the EGL MEC Chairman and Vice Chairman, have been intentionally witholding information from elected MEC members.
Mr.Ryter admitted as much in a recent email to LEC83 CA Rep Val Jester. Mr.Ryter told Jester that there are "leaks" in the MEC; so that he and other MEC members can not be trusted with information.
There is no idea how long the MEC Chairman and Vice Chairman have been witholding information from elected MEC representatives.
These MEC representatives are charged with acting in our best interest based upon all available information. It now appears that our elected representatives have been intentionally denied timely information, by Ryter and Gutierrez, upon which to base their decisions so they could vote in the best interest of their pilots.
It appears that the failure to provide timely information was intentional by them. This may have denied the pilots of the effected bases their right to fair representation.
What's even more alarming is the fact that Ryter states in his email that he will essentially continue to withold information from them. This effectively prevents a large portion of the elected MEC members from performing their duty of representing their pilots.
What is happening can be boiled down to this. The company provides certain information to the union. Mr Ryter and Mr Gutierrez are accepting the information of behalf of the union. At that point, instead of passing the information to the elected MEC officers, Dave Ryter and Tony Gutierrez are denying the information to several specific MEC elected officials. This denies the MEC elected officers the ability to fairly and fully represent the pilots. It allows the company to provide timely notification of events, but denies our elected leaders the ability to respond in a fully informed manner.
There is no way of determining how long they have been doing this; and the email from Ryter clearly states his intention to continue to withold information. The LEC83 CA Rep Val Jester has indicated he will accept calls from anybody wishing more information.
Due to the witholding of information by Gutirrez and Ryter the pilots were not provided with full and fair representation. There is no idea how much information was witheld, for how long it was witheld, or if information is still being witheld. There is also the question if Ryter will fall on his sword for Gutierrez and claim he didn't tell him the information too.

Training and Vacation
If you have a scheduled vacation that runs through training, is there a way to still take the vacation?
I'm supposed to start EMB training at the end of the month but all the EMB vacation slots suck.

You're correct. I'm taking long term training and I was a little worried that I won't get anything worth a poo to bid for vacation wise. On the other hand I really need to get to training. The wife is trying to kill me with her honey do list.

Well, if had had to return to the regional life, I would drown myself.. However, I would definitely take Republic over Eagle any day of the week. The short time I spent in the E-175 really helped me down the road. It is a very marketable aircraft. Good luck.
