Just got the job today. Woo HOO! Or at least passed stage 1 of the 3 stages. (background and pee test pending) They said that LAX would be opening up for FO's out of training. How realistic is this? I imagine that it is a very senior base. No? I would love to go to LAX being based in SLC.
Right now just the ERJ but CRJs will be flying through there soon. Rumors of a LAX CRJ base...

Keep in mind, though, that although you may be able to hold LAX within your first 3-6 months, reserve may potentially be 2 years, and I can tell you that commuting for reserve is nothing short of miserable (even if the commute is an easy one). Take that with a grain of salt, as there is a lot of movement here these days, however today the junior lineholders in LAX have about 4-5 years seniority. That will come down as the LAX EMB flying increases and as long as upgrades continue well into 2011.
In the beginning, it'll all be the same. You'll be on reserve wherever you are. However, if QOL has any importance to you, you may find yourself considering ORD after a few months of commuting to reserve in LAX, as you'll almost certainly hold a line in ORD looooong before you would in LAX. But whatever floats your boat!
As for the latest apparent fleet plan, LAX and JFK will both see CRJ flying introduced in 2011 (moreso for LAX), however it appears all this flying will be done by ORD based crews.

Ok well at least that gives me more ammo for the decision. I would really like to make eagle work for me and my family but I also have an interview with Air Wisconsin on Thurs (talk about a busy week). If I get that I will be moving back east but still commuting. Not sure what to do about this decision if I get both.
Anyway, AE mentioned that they needed to hire 200 this year, 300 next year, and that does not count the 150 flowing through to AA. He said, " if you do the math, that is 600-700 pilots we need to hire by end of next year" And THAT is awesome IMO. I want to be at a company that is growing. Air Wiskey is growing too and has a lot of benefits in pay, but I think my upgrade would be further away there too. What do you think?
And yes it is 4 AM. Can't sleep after all the nerves of the interview today. I know I should be out like a lamp but I am very excited!

I don't see Air Wisc. growing. Parker does not like 50 seat AC. They are stuck at 70, 50 seat A/C with a contract expiring in 2015. It is a good regional to work for though. It is a tough call I worked for both. I left eagle b/c the upgrade was going to be 9-10 yrs. At the time AWAC upgrade was 1yr, I ended up getting it at 3yrs. You just have to pick one and not look back. Make the decision that is best for you. You never know what will happen next.

Anything can stop this at anytime. You guys were probably in middle school when 9/11 happened. Guys were literally pulled out in the middle of sim sessions etc, Gas prices rising right now MIGHT damper all this planning. Bottom line, plan for today, prepare for the worse.
