Well up till now, I had not answered you, so you were talking to yourself. But got it, however I think he is being sarcastic. There is no reason that an RJ captain should make this much, it should drop to 80k max if flown at guarantee for the year. It hurts everyone for people to stay at this job, and want bigger planes. These high paid captains will be the first one to say they hope to retire on a 100 seat jet.

If I will be based in Dfw next year, do I bid for a Dfw vacation slot? Or do they only accept it if it's your current base?

Two things. First, there is EVERY reason why an RJ captain should make 100K+ per year. Every business man will tell you that you are worth what people are willing to pay you. No more, no less. It's all about negotiations, either singly or as a group. That's just the way it is. Can we continue to make that kind of money? Who knows. Maybe not. But, worth it? Yes.

Second, most of the 100K+ captains I know (other than the guys with less than ten years to go until retirement) have no desire to simply retire on a 100 seat jet. Most I know (myself included) are taking the huge paycut (like 70k) to move on to a mainline, be it to AA via the flow (that would be me, one of the numbered pilots), or to any other airline via the usual off the street hiring process.

It looks like Eagle has hired a whole new group of pilots that see no point in Eagle being a career carrier. It seems the quick upgrade to go to the majors is more important to them and thus, expect to be sold out by most of them come TA vote time so they can get theirs.

You've got two choices with them........go to AA when your number comes up or stay and fly for peanuts. Either way it's obvious......you'll be expected to get out of their way.

It's truly sad what's happened to Eagle in just a few short months.

I my have to fly for peanuts but those yahoo's will be on the street because they cannot read the loop holes. Well, since they know everything, then they will experience everything-furlough.

I'll tell you what. Since you're so concerned, why not give up some of your pay. Write a letter to your CEO and say that you're taking a 50% pay cut.

For the responsibility the CA has, he/she should get paid well in excess of 100k, never mind that it's a CRJ. I also believe first year pay should be in the 40k range- increasing to 60k by year 2...but that would be in a perfect world.

Out of curiosity, which seat are you in, and what do you think you SHOULD be paid?

That right there was pretty damn funny, I don't care who you. Now off to pre-flight that damn ATR. I'm sure it's leaking something.

Most of the newhires won't be able to vote on this TA.

I also don't care what the spreadsheet says about minimum fleet guarantees. Take it from a former Comair guy, what you need are minimum block hour guarantees. Otherwise you could see your minimum fleet parked right outside the crew room windows with no plans to fly them.
