Frontline Report on Colgan 3407, PBS
#12
I thought the part I saw was a little Colgan centric. Should've been a little more about how the Airlines are in bed with the FAA.
Maybe they made that point before I started watching.
I did like the point how experience flows uphill. Makes a good case insisting that if your airline's name is on the side, your pilot is in the cockpit.

Couldn't agree more Roger Cohen for the RAA was a MAJOR douche. Talking about "average pay" for regional airline captains and FO's, ok but that average is being dragged higher by the Skywest's, Expressjets, Horizons of the industry. I'd be interested in average for Fo's at Colgan or lets just say average first year it's misleading to talk about an overall average.
I feel a little ashamed but I didn't know that code shares indemnify their mainline carrier for all liability.... that is a HUGE incentive to shift as much flying to a regional as you can even disregarding pay.
Overall VERY good reporting on the part of PBS, I feel like I should make a donation to them.... maybe 2% of my salary, more reports like that are worth an ALPA amount.

Believe me, I'm thankful. Just pointing out that averages get skewed when you start talking industry wide. I haven't worked for below average pay and I'm not about to start. (Within the limitations of current regional payscales not to start a mainline vs regional arguement)
