Not a myth... Not in the stairwell either.

I suspect SW is on the verge of a growth spurt. I wont speculate on the potential source of the flying because there is enough need (shortage) now.

Consider going to SLC or SGU. Make sure you go to any road show. But the golden ticket is a current pilot walking your resume in. They (SW) are very busy and emails and calls (in the past anyway) usually go nowhere. Effort=Outcome

Not a myth, we heard the whole story in initial training and various others on how not to be an idiot and fired during training

Not a myth. A fact. It happened three years ago when I went through my Captain upgrade training. A new hire FO and some of his new hire buddies went out drinking to blow off some stress during their new hire training.

Some people obviously do not know when to say enough booze is enough booze. The excrement at issue made it down the hotel hallway carpeting and smeared down the hotel hallway walls. This comes straight from the mouth of the Director of Training at that time - Mr. V. H.

Lovely, huh?

President Obama just signed in more federal money to extend unemployment benefits. Here in Colorado unemployment is 6 months and I got furloughed back in early December. I have had three interviews outside aviation and the same thing goes wrong. " if we hire you how do we know you wont leave and go back to being a pilot"

The only SW pilot I knew moved to Boston and I haven't kept in touch with him. My bad. Honestly I didn't know him that well but work with his wife as a crew scheduler years ago at a different airline. I will just keep trying to make contacts and emailing HR.
Thanks for the tip.

That looks like some promising news. Hopefully something actually comes out of it.

To revive an older topic: It was being said a few months ago that Skywest will hire ASA and UAL furloughees before they start taking from the SKYW hiring pool. Now that ASA has recalled everyone, that's not an issue. But has that UAL deal been confirmed, or is it a rumor? If it is true, how many UAL furloughees would actually take a job at the bottom with Skywest?

I certainly did this almost 4 years ago, but if you have prior multi-crew, turbojet powered time logged, I don't think they do anymore.

Certainly worth asking about before spending beau coup bucks on a Frasca session or three.

Is this a joke? $100 to $300 bucks to get prepped and feel more confident at an airline interview? In a 2 years this guys is going to be at $45k/year fo pay.. and your advice is to consider not getting the sim time?

That's a tab on a good 4 day trip! Come on!

Don't step over dollars to save a nickle..
