SKW is hiring 600 FA's? Where'd you hear this? I heard most regionals have to continually hire FA's bc the attrition is so high.

A lead who was talking to one of the trainers. She had originally heard upwards of 1300 but the trainer said 600.

I know I know. An FA rumor . Not to had fuel to the fire, but said trainer speculated it has something to do with Air Tran.

I'm just the messenger

Yeah, most of us have HEARD that rumor, about hiring a bunch of fa's. Most think it has something to do with getting a million rj's for airtran. I don't think the air tran rumor is true (at least I hope not). I know they are hiring fa's right now, but I think it's because of attrition, and fa's are understaffed. And I have also heard that we have to hire 5 to get 1 past the year mark. Sounds about right to me. So in essence, I think we are hiring fa's to make up for attrition and being short staffed.

I bet that 20-30% of the fa's get hired on thinking they will be making $20 x 40hrs a week. Must be pretty disappointed to find out they made more working at Chili's.

When did I ever condemn you? You some how got I was condemning you from saying the Skywest shouldn't hire pilots when ASA pilots are on the street?

As for how you unite. It's simple... you join the lists. As for how that needs to take place, the process is fairly simple. You sit down and start negotiating. Do you really think its that complicated? Delta just did it and Republic is currently doing it. Each side presents what they want and you start to compromise. If you can't reach an agreement the arbitrator will.

The end result will be far better than anything you have right now.
You sound like someone with very little industry experience, with an idealized idea of how things could be. To say combining list would result in a situation "far better than anything else you have right now" is ridiculous. Any combined list that would allow ASA pilots to bid out of ATL and into current SkyWest domiciles would be a big negative for any currrent SkyWest pilot.

As far as the process being simple...SkyWest Inc. has no desire to merge list, they would legally have to be forced to. It isn't going to happen, unless big changes happen and they aren't even in the works.

I wonder what you will be saying when Skywest awards its ASA pilots a 50 airplane contract and then the Skywest pilots loose a 50 airplane contract.

I did think it was funny to hear a fellow SKW pilot the other day say "no union will ever be on property because JA would instantly "furlough" 200 plus pilots". I dont know how anyone justify this, but he was dead set on this since he "knew JA".
Yea because that would be like go jet calling for one list with TSA.

hey I got a quick question.
Rumor at XJ is that SLC based SKW crews are giving us the finger and step on the radio while we are chatting. I certainly hope its just a rumor and not the truth. Cause I have always thought of Skywest as a group of professionals and to hear that they are not because of a Delta scheduling us out there and not of our own doing is kinda dissappointing.

I spend a lot of time in SLC. I have never seen this, or heard of it from anyone at SKW. I would consider it highly unlikely that if you did have one guy do this, that the other crewmember would let him.

About half the CA's don't even know who XJ or the other other redtails are.

I think "vague curiosity" best describes our attitude. I think most of us don't care who flows through SLC on a 4-day. As long as we get to start and end there. Since SKW actually owns the entire E-Concourse, it's unlikely that they are going to kick us all out.
