Anyone who takes serious career advice from a random person on an internet forum has no business flying airplanes for a living.

Let's cut all the bashing and get to the facts, not the facts plus your opinion. The facts should speak for themselves.

So,
I've heard IAD is pretty junior. I was just wondering what kind of trips are flown out of this base. I'd imagine it's mostly out-and-backs.

That growth is because of the Pinnacle pilots and management undecutting scope with them.
I do agree with you. If Pinnacle had not not bought bought Colgan there is no way it would still be in business.

I currently work at Colgan. I am upset with the poor pay and the poor schedules. Some say we are bottom feeders, that may be true but that goes for every regional pilot out there then. We all work for less than we are worth. At least we are trying to fix our situation. Instead of hating us for taking the flying that the majors are giving away (something as pilots we don't even have control of). We should be working together as an entire pilot group. It doesn't matter what airline any of us work for we are all in the same boat!

Trust me, by going to Colgan you are harming their chances at getting a fair contract.

The only way to get a fair contract at Colgan is for management to be put in a corner. No matter how great you think you are at negotiating, you are only harming the Colgan pilot group by going there. Good contracts are obtained through leverage. Leverage is gained by the Colgan group by you withdrawing your app.

That is not a good excuse for going somewhere. Scabs say the same thing when they cross the picket line. "If I strike, someone else will do the flying."

You should withdraw your app too. It will not help the Colgan pilots if you accept the job there.

You can't wait to interview? You can't wait to apply for food stamps too?

I don't deny the fact I am looking for employment else where. I also don't deny that life a colgan isn't the best. But we do have a good group of pilots working through ALPA to create a better place to work in the future.
It is tough to sit back a watch someone bash your job when they don't work there.
In the end we as pilots need to stop blaming each other for the contracts that managment signs. We all have bills to meet, you can't expect us to sit home unemployed because managment signed bad contract to get some flying.
