Colgan Air Hiring FOs for Saab 340 and Q400

That's funny. And I don't think it's fair that Colgan is flying CAL's 737 routes. Is it fair that Colgan's pilots will likely be stuck at that craphole making minimum wage for their entire career because there's no more major airlines flying any domestic routes?

Actually I was referring to the bashing and name calling sir! I agree the thread needs to be informative however you guys are way off of thread topic. You don't know what you would do if you worked at colgan beause of the simple fact that you don't, a few of my friends are senior captains and while they don't like their current situation they are working to improve it.
Things don't happen overnight in aviation so give the brothers and sisters at colgan a chance to make things right before you start passing judgement.

We are now part of ALPA although it is in its VERY infant stages. We have been in contract negotiations for a few months now.

On a somewhat relevant tangent, I think Colgan and Mesa are two totally different animals. Colgan is a vestige of the "commuters" era whereas mesa was a major airline operating with the commuter, stepping-stone mindset. Colgan's Saab rates aren't that far off SkyWest's Bro rates, however, with the Q deliveries coming and a contract in the works I hope Colgan shoots for higher rates and salvages their name. I know a lot of good pilots there and plenty of crummy ones at my "top-tier regional" (oxymoron if I've ever spoken one) so I'd advise against painting any pilot group with broad brush stroke.

Having been here a few years the stuff you are seeing about Colgan is all true both good and bad (was there any good?)
It has all been factual. If anyone wants a rundown on what its like here just shoot me a PM or any of the other CJC guys and we will be glad to give you the truth about our experiences. They will all vary greatly though whether you are talking to someone who has lived in base since day one, someone who upgraded in 10 months or someone that was hired at the end of the last wave and has two full years of reserve while commuting from the west coast.
If given the choice between most any other regional would I come here...no. With that being said there currently is no choice so it leaves you the option of riding out the storm or applying here to use this place for a few (literally) dollars and some time in the logbook and currency until the next wave happens.
Lets try to keep this as an informative thread before it gets closed (no, I wont close it but someone else likely will.) If you have Colgan questions good, bad or indifferent just ask it regarding current hiring and conditions and they can get answered truthfully.

From my understanding of others experiences, Colgan is carefully screening their potential new hires with requirements of high tt and recent multi time. That leads me to believe that they have been swamped with resumes from the whole experience gamut applicants. Also, I don't know this for sure but, after the accident, I would think that Colgan is a much better (safer) palce to work and fly.

Cause I am sure the company you are furloughed from was so great that they had to furlough their pilots. At least at Colgan we can say we have never furloughed and have grown when most others are failing. I would never trade steady employment for a few dollars in pay and an extra day off. But hey what do I know, I have a job. Enjoy your furlough.
Colgan has furloughed. It furloughed pilots right after 9/11. Do some research on your company next time.

You are not doing yourself or anyone else any good by going to Colgan.

Please do all the Colgan pilots a favor and withdraw you application from there. The only way to improve their contract and fix this industry is if you do not go there. Everyone else applying for that matter too.
