Colgan Air Hiring FOs for Saab 340 and Q400

No, I was the other guy, but the guy from Pitt was who I did the sim with. For the interview, he focused mostly on a Jepp appaorach plate and an airport diagram, and a weather print out. Asked about previous flying experience and a system on the twin I fly now, a couple of WWYD if... questions. I did it with Andrew, who was very professional and in the short time I had with him seemed like a very good guy.

You'll have to forgive me as I'm terrible with names, but was Paul the local EWR guy, or the other one who had been with the company since99?

Going2BGR, it took them a few days to get the required information to me. I was called last Monday, and didn't get an e-mail from them until Thursday evening, it took a couple e-mails after that to get the travel information arranged. It all worked out though, so stay on them. It seems like with the short call class they're getting together, plus moving Saabs around, getting ready for the Q's and all of the transitions that will create, they have a lot going on right now.

Dan............no offense, but you really could not prepare yourself well enough to do better than a 72%?
I thought after 3407 they would have held applicants to a much higher standard. You may be a great guy etc...........but what does that say that you knew what was going to be asked of you during an interview (Faa Written type of test) and you still only got a 72%
flame all you want, but c'mon................

You should consider yourself extremely lucky. I interviewed at an airline last year and there was a guy who showed up a few minutes late and he got send home right away! There were no debates and no arguments. There are more pilots than jobs available right now. If you don't have your stuff together, they'll move on to the next guy. Plenty of qualified pilots out there. That right there should give you a good indication what kind of operation Colgan is. I could see this happening maybe back in 2007-2008 when they were desperate for pilots, but not now.

I interviewed this past weekend. I was an idiot, and did not pass the written...got a 72 and needed an 80. However, Chuck gave me a huge break and invited me back to interview the next day. Interview went great, and now he's flying me back to retake the written and do the sim. Don't use my situation as a reason to be lax on the written though. I am extremely gracious and thankful that I am getting a second chance, and will be making sure to do better this time. I had passed the ATP written over a year ago, and only re-studied certain core chapters that I thought the most emphasis would be placed on. I would recommend studying ALL chapters, with the exception of the W&B and performance calculations.
It was great to meet all of you this past weekend, and hope to see you in class soon. If anyone would like more details on my experience, feel free to PM me.
