That's a good point. I'm just so used to us having such high car insurance rates I figured health insurance would be the same way. I'm paying $200 a month for my car insurance, with NO accidents or tickets. Jeez.

I don't know, I haven't tried to get it. I won't. I don't want any assistance. My dad was trying to convince me to go file and see if I can get it just to pay for my health insurance, but I'm doing just fine paying for crap on my own without unemployment. I don't want to rely on any kind of assistance. It's my own problem, and I'm dealing with it. And unlike most of these liberals, I actually went out and bought my own health insurance plan when I got furloughed..... wow, isn't that amazing! And it was all but 70 bucks a month too... and it's better than what MAG offered me too. (which doesn't take much, haha)
You have a great deal to learn about how the medical/insurance system works in this country. Like most, you won't find out until either you or someone you love gets desperately ill without some sort of group plan. As a person insured on an individual plan you are a sitting duck. They will take all your money and then let you die..its as cold and straight forward as that.

Son..news flash. If you had a pre-existing condition you would be unable to get health insurance at any price. Or worse, they will take your money and then cancel the policy when you make your first claim with anything involving your past history.

I don't have any pre-existing conditions, and I doubt they would drop me if I make a claim. Besides, I only purchased this plan because COBRA from Mesa is too expensive, and it's really awful insurance anyways. I will be canceling this policy if and when I get a new job. BCBS is a pretty good insurance company, and I have complete faith that if I had to go to the doctor today and it was discovered I had cancer, I would be just fine.
1. Insurance companies make their money by denying claims. They generally don't do it with those on a group policy because they risk losing the entire contract. As an individual policy holder you are at great risk due to there being no downside to them canceling your policy. It depends on the state you live in to some extent. Those with a long history of progressive/liberal legislation over many decades usually have some protections in place for the individual. If you live in a state that has a more conservative history, you are probably assuredly []. Once you are denied, and redenied for a long period, your only hope is some sort of state regulatory enforcement.
As an addition to that, as long as the denial of service/cancelation of policy is "under review", there will be no assistance for you from anyone. "The internal policies must be allowed to work first". By the time all these things are done, it is often too late for you or your family member.
2. You don't seem to see the significance of pre-existing conditions. You dismissed it because you have none. Your original post implied that anyone worth their salt would just go get a policy. I was trying to point out that for many it isn't possible, at any price.
3. Most people go ignorantly through life on this subject because they have never faced this buzz saw. They either worked for a large company with good group benefits or only known people to get sick once they had medicare, which pays the big parts of health costs. The supplemental policies for the retired are cheaper due to medicare.
Well, enough for now. I hope you and all you care for never have to really deal with these monsters. Unfortunately, some occasionally do.

I think they said that 12 were going to be in the first class which is Feb. 16th, then they were going to be classes of 8 starting in March.
I heard a guy talking about how he had 3000 and another talking about how he had 1300. I have almost 2000. Everyone I talked with had internal rec's

There were a lot of CFI's, 2 on furlough from Comair and I think there was another who was on furlough but Im not sure where he was from. The written isn't bad at all just study the ATP written book. The questions they asked in the interview were really good questions. They're not the cheesecake questions that most places have asked in the past. The Sim is a blast, its a 1900D and a lot of fun. Everyone there was very nice. Chuck and his staff did a really good job.
