Colgan Air Hiring FOs for Saab 340 and Q400

Most people were resposible about it and had drinks 12 hours or more before their next shift. Some people just stayed there sometimes instead of going home if they were on Reserve for five days. It's just not worth it to go home sometimes. The people that were off the next day always were organizing the next happy hour.

I mean, I was going to get furloughed anyways 3 weeks later, so I just saved myself 3 weeks of misery.

Anyone working for a regional airline works for a bottom feeder...
The only reason any one regional pay more then the other regional is because of union contracts or because of a stronger pilot group.
If all the regionals could get away with paying what Colgan pays, they would. All the regional airlines are chasing the same dime.

No. Being furloughed is better. At least it is from Mesa. I took a voluntary furlough because I was commuting on reserve. It was horrible. I'm much happier now, even though I don't have a job. lol

NEWS FLASH!!! Every regional airline sucks.
Im proud to say that I work for Colgan. It was the best decision for MY career at the time. You guys kill me when you tell someone starting his career not to come here. Everyone wants everyone ELSE to take a stand for the good of the industry. Fact of the matter is that these are the same guys that would step over their own grandmother to get out of a burning building. When they took their first job at the their own bottom feeder regional you mean to tell me that the pay was remarkably better than all the rest. Bull#@% . Everyone in this industry only cares about themselves at the end of the day. Thats pretty much the world works my friends.
This business is all bout the race to get there first. Seniority is everything. Waiting a year or two to jump in will cost you huge money at the end of your career. Telling a guy thats ready for his first flying job not to take it because you are dragging down the industry is a bunch of BS. My advice take the first job you can get build your time and get on to the next one. Thats the way the industry has worked for years and it will continue that way. If you can help your colleagues at the same time fine but if not just worry about YOU and YOUR family first. Do whats best for your career first.
Everyone trys to act like they are taking a stand by staying on unemployment and they would rather scrub toilets thatn work at Colgan. Good. Have fun with that. It's your decision.
Like someone said in an earlier post. Every regional is chasing the same dollar. Like every business in America right now. The cheaper the better. Not saying its right but its reality everyone. No changing it. Why do you think Walmart is the biggest company/employer in the country.
Id be willing to bet someone my entire gigantic Colgan paycheck that if the Chief Pilot from Fed Ex came to them and said we will hire you but you are going to make Colgan wages for the first 2-3 years, there would be a pile up of dead grandmothers. Now I know all the guys on here that think they are the true pioneers and really want us to believe that they care about everyone else will say "nope not me" BS BS BS. In the excitment of the moment with the deal on the table I'm sure it will be "when is the class date". Because for the ultimate good of YOUR career in todays state of the industry you would be a fool not to take it. Isnt that what is happening when someone takes a job at a regional? Sacrificing and gambling on future earnings.
In all fairness it sucks for the people that are not at regionals just to move on to bigger and better things. Once you decide to make a career at a regional than you should be compensated accordingly for it. Payscales beyond the 3-4 year mark should be drastically better. And thats a real issue that needs to be dealt with but i Just dont know how it can happen.
Come to Colgan or any other job you can get. Realize that its not Big D and never will be. Keep your nose clean, get your experience and move on. The way tens of thousands of the pilots ahead of us have been doing for years.
And by the way stop saying bad things about my airline. Your really hurting my feelings and I'm a real sensitive guy.
I love Colgan!!!!

I don't know, I haven't tried to get it. I won't. I don't want any assistance. My dad was trying to convince me to go file and see if I can get it just to pay for my health insurance, but I'm doing just fine paying for crap on my own without unemployment. I don't want to rely on any kind of assistance. It's my own problem, and I'm dealing with it. And unlike most of these liberals, I actually went out and bought my own health insurance plan when I got furloughed..... wow, isn't that amazing! And it was all but 70 bucks a month too... and it's better than what MAG offered me too. (which doesn't take much, haha)

I wasn't going to post this, but just so I can laugh at the thought of winglets pulling out another gob of hair after reading it, I'll go ahead......I am interviewing there this weekend! Anyone else going? Let's try and get a few positive posts about the fact that some jobs are finally springing up before it goes back to the usual bashing and negativity.
