I wasn't going to post this, but just so I can laugh at the thought of winglets pulling out another gob of hair after reading it, I'll go ahead......I am interviewing there this weekend! Anyone else going? Let's try and get a few positive posts about the fact that some jobs are finally springing up before it goes back to the usual bashing and negativity.
I feel bad for you, because you don't listen to the truth about Colgan. You really have yet to grasp how low the compensation is for Colgan FO's vs. their peers.
I guess some pilots only learn from experience. I wish you good luck in your up coming Colgan experience.
You have valid points, I was just trying to provide some positives. From reading the rest of this thread, you'd think that life at Colgan is only slightly better than a Chinese sweat shop. I just don't want anyone out there to get the wrong idea about our company, much like you don't. I've been pretty happy here. I know some who haven't been. I don't think that's any different anywhere else.

i was told all the upcoming new hire ground schools are for the saab as all the current FO's wanna move over to the Q. doesnt make sense to me because then you're paying for 2 ground schools?

It may not make sense to someone from the outside to have 2 ground schools but it is a huge advancement for our pilots, thanks to our scheduling committee. In the past, awards on equipment, base changes, and upgrades were all done behind everyones back and given to those who were in "good" with management.
Now thanks to the work of our MEC and scheduling committee members everything is open to bid in the form of a vacancy bid. When bases, upgrades, and equipment changes come up now they must go through a vacancy bid in which pilots have a week or so to bid on whatever they wish in the system and when the bid closes those who are senior will win the awards.
We just had a bid close today for base openings, Q transitions, and 22 upgrades over the next 5 months. The awards will come out Monday were the awarded pilots will have the option to accept their award or turn it down.
Remember this was achieved without a contract, but with the hard work of our CJC ALPA volunteers.

Good luck to you BroncoBird and anyone else that got an interview! Kudos to IrishTiger for recognizing that this job isn't for him/her. That's what it's all about. Weighing the advice of others and ultimately deciding for YOURSELF if it's the right place to go or not. I didn't get called for the interview yet, maybe next time... Colgan might not be the best place in the world, but I don't think it's the worst either. Also, hiring is better than furloughing. Hopefully things will get better across the board.

I really hate to break it to some of you people but my first year at Colgan was good! I made well over guarantee, never junior manned, never extended, called in sick and was not beaten with a stick, only once had a duty day go near 15 hours and most importantly, I still enjoy my job. All this AND I was on the bottom of the Dulles seniority list for the entire first year.
I'm sure this is not the experience most new hires have but I can only tell you how I have it. Too many people on here are talking out of their rear end!
