YOU WORK FOR MESA.

You are using 2 screen names. There is another member whose name is Winglet who has a picture of an eagle as his avatar. Your name is Winglets and have pictures of 2 eagles as your avatar.

Ya' Busted Son...

Now, quickly deny it and log in as winglet and say you are not the same.

So how is Mesa these days?

Truth be told Colgan is probably at the bottom of any airline that is replacing mainline flights. If people really wanted this industry to get better and pay better, stay away from any RJ that has more than 50 seats in it.

Hypocrites
Plane size means nothing. It should be... don't go to airline that pays insanely lower compensation than other airlines for the same size airplane.

2 bucks an hour. roughly 1800/year. Try not to spend it all in one place.
The Eagle CA makes wayyyyy more in pay and total compensation than a Colgan CA.

Due to work rules, the Eagle captain makes at least $5,000-$10,000 in pay alone and probably another $20,000 in overall compensation.

???????????

Are you serious?

Go read the Mesa thread and you can see I was joking around with "winglet".

He was telling me I wasn't being original with my name. I then told him "I have more", with regards to plane winglets, and made my picture into two eagles.

I really hope you were joking with this one.

Also, if you see what I posted on the Mesa thread you should know I did not go there. Mesa is an airline I chose not to go early to and waited for a better compensated one.

$45 for the most junior non-street Saab Captain X 75 hour min = $3375 or $40,500 a year. This is with not working a penny over minimum and never getting per diem for any overnight trip. I was talking to my friend who is based in IAH and an early 2007 hire made $50,000 last year.
He said it was 2nd year CA take-home paycheck:
$42x75=3150
3150-(about)100 for health insurance=3050
Assuming 20% for federal/state taxes=3050-600=2440
2440/2=1220 per paycheck. Looks accurate to me. Even quoting your example of 45/hr it still comes close to 1200/paycheck in the end.

I have actually seen a CA paycheck in '07 when I was flying with an '05 hire. we were based at an outstation (no per diem) and I remember it being around $1200... I was shocked (and it's still pretty shocking). Last year I saw an '07 captain's W-2, he had grossed $36k or 37k. No per diem of course because of outstation basing. Your friend must've picked a lot of open time... that kind of opportunity just isn't around anymore, at least I don't know if the open time available/reserve situation is different down in IAH. For example my line is only credited at 65 hrs like many of the other lines... to make over guarantee, I would need to pick up THREE separate trips (assuming each trip is worth 5 hrs of flying) because the first two only serve to bring me up to guarantee. Scheduling rarely grants lineholders open time, let alone 3 in one month! Even then, at the end of picking up 3 extra trips in a month, I would have made only 5 hrs of extra pay over guarantee. See, it's not for lack of trying. To be fair I did pretty well in the first year picking up plenty of open time when the Colgans were still running the place. Those were the days of 85-90 hr lines. But Pinnacle seems intent on making everyone earn only bare minimum guarantee (and 12 days off for senior lines.)

Anyhows I'm quite (pleasantly) shocked about this new repo pay credit. I'm assuming it's per repo rountrip, not for the entire month. That actually makes the work worth it.

LOL, yeah you guys got me

Really though, I haven't even entertained the thought. I've talked to many former Colgan pilots and have a pretty good idea how things are there versus a bunch of other places. I'm really trying to save you guys the head ache and help the current Colgan pilots get the best chances at a better contract.

What work rules would you be referring to? Trip rig? Duty rig? I'm not sure about the work rules that paid me more at Eagle than a Colgan captain would make with the same years of service. Do you work at either?

Oh, the curse of being a street Captain.

I was shocked, as you said as well, when I say a 1 hr repo for IAD...must of been a typo. Are you a 2007 hire?

Who cares who any of us work for... We all have the same goal, move on to a mjor, legacy, or great corporate job. Usually a regional is stepping stone, we need them just as much as they need us. So as far as me, I would never waste my time not working in a 121 carrier postion just for crappy work rules. Im gonna do whatever I have to do to get where I want. Any of you all who want to be big and macho and refuse to work for Colgan go ahead, in fact give me your exact names so when I am interviewing i can go ahead and scratch you off the list and tell management not to call you. And yes for all you people out there talking about over 50 seats taking away mainline flying, why dont you get on the majors forums and start complaing to those mainline guys and tell them to do something about it. Cause this aint the thread to do on. Every regional out there has takin away mainline flying, except the cessna carriers. And just because an aircraft is over 50 seats means its taking away from mainline? Look at express jet, they operate a erj from IAH to IAD, and they go there multiple times a day. WHO CARES!! Get mad at the mainline management. Get over yourself if your trying to prove a point by not taking a job with a lower reputable company.
