The best chance for the Colgan pilots to get a decent contract is for you to not go there and give them leverage for their contract negotiations.

Look at their pay here.. http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/a...olgan_air.html

75 hours X $21 = $18,900/year. You will take home less than that. You get no 401K matching (if that has changed the Colgan pilots can correct me)
for your second year... 75 hours X $26 = $23,400/year.

This is the pay for a 70 seat aircraft.

Comparison?

Horizon - Q400 (70 seats)
75 hours X $29 = $26,100/year. You get 401K matching ($1 for $1 up to 10%) This is another $2,610/year. 1st year = $28,710
for your second year... 75 hours X $39 = $35,100/year. + $3,510 401K = $38,610 for your second year.

Piedmont - DHC8-300 and -100 (38-50 passengers)
72 hours X $27 = $23,300/year. You get 4% 401K matching.
for your second year... 75 hours X $31 = $26,800/year.

I'm out of town for another 2 weeks with the current job and am hoping they will be flexible if they call.
You must really have a bad case of Shiny Jet Syndrome... wait, you probably have no idea what that is.

here.
Why would anyone discourage someone from coming to their airline? More seniority for them.

I have a buddy of mine that left Colgan recently. He told me some crazy things, his exact words were Colgan is a shady place. And this guy is one of those types that never has anything bad to say about anyone. Enjoy.

Skystormer, please read the Shiny Jet Syndrome article. I'm afraid you don't know you have the disease yet.

The guy kind of wanted me to come in this weekend instead of next weekend. He gave me 2 choices, this or next weekend in LGA. I am on furlough so this is better than nothing?

The ugly truth is that Colgan probabally has thousands of applications to sort through. This is an airline that has ZERO respect for its line pilots. You WILL be harassed for calling out sick or fatigue. They WILL threaten your job and suspension if you refuse to fly an aircraft for saftey related reasons. And they will LIE through their teeth to the public about how they operate their airline.

The only thing management at Colgan Air is concrened with is completion factor, and they will stop at nothing to get their way.

To most the aftermath of Flight 3407 was a humbling experience to all of us affected. Colgan management is directly responsible for harboring the fear and intimidation about calling out sick and fatigue regarding this accident. And yet they still continue to operate the way they do. It really makes me sick to my stomach.

Do yourself and your family a favor and apply elsewhere.

Beagle, thanks for the advice. This is the kind of stuff I need to hear and who I wanted to hear it from. That is pretty sad and I hate to hear that those that died on 3407 did so in vein. I have been looking for a job since may 08 and will continue to do so.

It doesn't matter who I work for. It doesn't matter if I work for Colgan or not.
You have the classic diagnosis for SJS and chose to ignore it. That's not my problem if you can't see that.

I will keep telling everyone that by not going to Colgan you will be doing those pilots a huge favor in securing a good contract.

As for getting the saab in IAH, good luck. Nothing is guaranteed and since they pay FO's the same on the Q as the saab, I would assume senior FO's would be on the saab and you would get the Q400.

I would plan on EWR in the Q for $18,000/year and food stamps. That is the reality.

Beagle said it best, yet for some reason you think what I am saying holds no water. Wake up
