Colgan Air Hiring FOs for Saab 340 and Q400

Winglets... I do see you point. But I disagree. Let's just leave it at that. I haven't made up my mind yet on whether or not I'd take a job there. I'll weigh all the advice I've been given, including yours, along with my own personal situation.
usmc-sgt, Thank you for the input. Looks like I have some thinking to do.

Let us also not forget that Colgan flying the Q400s was not Continental first choice, Express Jet was, but they turned the offer down. So for all those Express Jet guys blaming Colgan for their furloughs, (Winglets) I think they need to take a step back and re-evaluate, and thank their old fearless leader Ream

Sorry for the previous rant.... sometimes the absurdity makes me nuts.
Thanks NoStep for the vote of confidence. I try to be evenhanded.
A bit of my backround to contrast Sgt's:
Been with Colgan about the same length of time, but refused the Q when hired because I wanted IAH. I flew 10 years in the 135 and corp world, but after closing two companies, I wanted a bit more "stability". I chose Colgan because:
they operated turboprops (and there will always be a market for TPs)
served three carriers vice one
had a large base which would not require me to move and had a low cost of living
As somebody said, if no one applied, something would have to give (some sort of better compensation). But that is true of EVERY airline: mainline and regional. So the best answer is to tell everybody we know how crappy this industry is, then maybe there won't be a zillion wide eyed kids taking lessons.

But saying that "they turned it down" is an oversimplification of what really happened. IE, not enough airframes/guaranteed length of agreement. Also, the previous CPA was so restrictive that it made many of XJT management's decisions for them. And not always for the better.

btw, loved the Arthur Godfrey flying the Connie thing on youtube...those were the days!

In hindsight, it's easy to say XJT should have got BACK into turboprop flying.

IF, and a BIG IF, XJT was to get the TP's, yep, they could have made a profit. But something to consider that MOST people neglect. XJT flies TP's for X amount of operation cost. We don't have to speculate, it would have been high. Colgan management would fly them for less than X. That's just the reality of it. Remember, CAL went with a low bidder before on their regional feed, what makes you think that this would have been any different?

sorry to get off topic but...
Anybody heard anything from Colgan? How long until they contact you? where's the interview? what are your times? any info would be great. As much as I'd like to hold out for my regional of choice, there's just not much out there right now. Compared to my current job, Colgan would be a step up. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
