Colgan Air Hiring FOs for Saab 340 and Q400

If that is the case then why do we give scabs a hard time?
It does make a difference. Yes they may choose to go to Colgan, but all of us should be discouraging them from doing so.
Doesn't matter. I may even work for Colgan, but I'm still going to tell people not to go there.
I will say it again, I have nothing against the Colgan pilots, I just think we (Colgan and all other pilots a like) should all be discouraging everyone from going there.

BTW, SCAB stands for Still Collecting All Benefits (of the strikers who sweat it out while the SCAB reaps the reward) Nobody's crossing a picket line here, Pumpkin.
For the 2 new recruits, "usmc-seargent" and "Flyjsh" usually have good advice on life flying a (shocker) trubo-prop for low wages.

There is a big difference between working for crappy wages and working struck flying. Colgan would be working for crappy wages.
I know a lot of good people there and they are far from scabs

After all I would never want to fly anything so small, in fact we should only fly 767s and larger at the majors!!

So, you're a new poster here at APC,won't admit where you work, and even though you're not calling people SCABs, you're implying it. You sound suspiciously like the troll "Skyhigh"...just lobbing thread-grenades to shut this thread down, perhaps?

I'll be there this weekend too, Skystormer.
And yes, winglets, I know. Withdraw my app, stay away, and so on. Got it, thanks.

Thanks for the good word nostep.
I try to give non biased, non flamebait, non bashing info the best I can.
If you have questions feel free to send them my way.
Here is a quick background so you have some info on what I know.
I am a roughly 2.5 year FO based in EWR since roughly 4 months before the dash 8 arrived. From this you can deduce that I was hired directly into the plane while knowing the rates were poor.
I am actively and as a matter of fact have been actively looking to leave here since about 6 months after I started because part 121 is not and has never been what I am looking for. Colgan has not helped the situation having taken in a little under 30K for the last few years but I would be actively looking regardless.
I am in the 20th or so percentile in seniority in base and have been a line holder since I started here.
I was hired a few months after we were bought so I have seen old Colgan and I have seen new Colgan.
With that info you now know what I can help you with, I know only second hand info regarding the saab, nothing about any base other than EWR and nothing about life on reserve other than what I see around me.
I have no idea who winglets is but I do think (s)he is onto something in saying that no one should apply here because if they can not find a single applicant than that will DRASTICALLY improve our chances at securing a contract. With this being said, I dont think there is a single person here who believes for even a fraction of a second that Colgan will not have 100 applications for every open seat.
To be honest, and we did it to ourselves: If Colgan said that it was now going to be PFT, they wanted 3000 TT with prior 121 and the pay was now $6/hr and you had to have blue eyes I still think they would fill their quota.
It is sad but I will say it again....it is what it is.

Yes, us "guys" at the majors are just "GIVING" Away the Flying! IN fact AMR wants to let Eagle fly the 70-100 seat jets! I am so excited to give that flying away as well! However only if I can get a 2-5% raise!
After all I would never want to fly anything so small, in fact we should only fly 767s and larger at the majors!!

I never called him a scab, he just assumed it because he can't understand the point I am making.

Let's compare a few routes CO flies and who is flying them (one way, non stop on 28 Jan):
EWR to PIT: three Express Jet and four Colgan
EWR to BUF: two Express Jet and three Colgan
EWR to DCA: four Express Jet and three Colgan
IAH to MCI: three Express Jet and One CO 737
IAH to BNA: seven Express Jet
ORD to CLE: five Chautauqua and two Express Jet
Here are the planes carrying CO ticket holders:
CO has about 350 airframes
Express Jet about 240
Chautauqua guessing around 20-30 CO airframes
Colgan about 25
CommuteAir 16
Gulfstream around 10
Cape Air 2 (ATRs, not sure if they are flying the 402s for CO)
Now, WHO is it that is taking 737 flying away?

Where did I call someone a scab? It was one of the applicants that suggested that if he didn't apply to Colgan, someone else would. I told him that was a poor excuse at justifying going there. That is where I said even scabs say stuff like that to justify flying struck work...
I never called him a scab, he just assumed it because he can't understand the point I am making.

You're "Who ME?...I never" , attitude is glaringly obvious. Your point about applying is similar to the idiot hippies with bumper-stickers "What if they threw a war and nobody came?"
Colgan flies truboprops for bad pay and workrules...we get it! Isn't that the way it's supposed to be? If they were paying that wage to someone flying a 90 seat jet that would be wrong...(and this would be a Republic thread).
