ASA is too Beaucoup!

Hey bud there's a lot of pilots on the street out there. Not saying the pay is where it should be but don't hate your management for finding flying. With Skywest and ASA on two separate certificates and seniority lists you're lucky they haven't whipsawed you in the ground by now. I'm extremely cautiously optimistic that they actually care about their employees.
Thanks.
May I call you bud as well?

[QUOTE=John Pennekamp;739549]They can't do that. It would be a major violation of section 24 of our contract. They must put it up for bids, and accept the results, or otherwise, they will have to NEGOTIATE a side letter with the union allowing them to "hand pick". Now if they took from the SkyWest side, they could do whatever they want... (hint, hint).
Not saying I disagree with you.... only stating what I was told.

After our conversation, I talked to some people and looked into this a little further.
From what I'm hearing now, the way they will get around our contract and "hand pick" is that this won't be a branch of ASA or SkyWest. Pilots will interview here, and if selected, will be placed on an 18 month COMA. They will be employees of the Vietnamese company, and still hold ASA seniority on the LOA. So apparently what you heard was correct, I just wasn't thinking outside the box.

You know, I flew with a number of Captains who were also on reserve during my time there before being shown the door. Most of them were single, young, and still looking for an adventure. Wonder how many would really jump at this opportunity.

I've heard quite a few indicate they'd be interested. But when it actually comes down to putting their money where their mouths are... I'm guessing not so many.
