26,300 for the year after taxes. No per diem.
Worked less than 190 days. Flew 650 hours.
I would have rather work more and make more money...oh well.

$146,000/yr base pay for 40 hour work week (we work a 4/10 with three days off a week) as a supervisory pilot, flying helicopters and F/W, for an airborne law enforcement unit for a government agency. (But I actually made a lot more than just that base pay because of all the overtime I worked.)

Been with the agency over 32 years, the past 12 with the aviation unit. (The 20 years before that were spent mostly as a street cop and detective.)

Per diem is about $50/day for food, plus whatever you might spend - actual cost - for hotels; but is generally only applicable on the very rare occasions one is away from home overnight. I probably averaged only 3 or 4 RON's per year over the last several years, so the money for that never factored in very much.

Right now I am in TX sitting shotgun on a Saab... used to live and work in PR and am desperately trying to find a job back on the island... I feel out of my element here in the 48. I still have friends down there that let me use their beach houses and whatnot if I need a quick vacay.

And it is fun.

After 12 years as a professional pilot, I made about 60% of that as a 10 year RJ captain. With a benefits and retirement package that doesn't even come close to what you have. This industry sucks.

Not quite correct, you are exempt from the first 80K but after that uncle Sam wants his money. I will not say how much I made this year so that I don't become the most hated guy on the thread

The 2009 expat tax exclusion is $91,400...You must not be in the U.S more than 35 days during the FY to be eligible for this exclusion.

That is correct--though you can also establish a permanent residence outside the country as well (please refer to you taxman--I do the above quoted thing).
