It is my understanding that the pool will be reinterviewed first before any street applicants are given an interview date. At this time, those haven't been scheduled yet.
No one knows who will be in the 16 FO upcoming class. It could be United furloughed pilots, ASA, or some from the pool.

Just for accuracy sake, there is already a pay scale that covers the E170, in light of the fact that at the time, we thought we might be flying them as Southwest Express.

Not Interviewing
I just got an email from HR which said:
"Thank you for your update. We are not currently interviewing, but will keep your updates on file."
I guess for now they are only talking to UAL furloughed pilots, ASA furloughed pilots, or existing poolies, or some combination thereof.

You joined up when there was no union. If you had accepted your job offer at SkW, the situation would be the same. You'd be free to be a charter member of whatever organization ultimately comes into existence.
Any union is better than none, the bigger the union the better.
Not sure I agree. I definitely don't subscribe to "bigger is better".......

Or with ASA and a combined list, they'd have plenty of pilots (and ASA ALPA union experience) to make a truly first class SWALPA. Then, for all the independent union lovers out there, if that combined group feels that they can get more bang for their buck with SkWAPA or whatever, they could join them. See how that works? Either way you have the same people who are responsible for what makes the union but with ALPA you get all their resources as well.
Except I believe folks at SkW would vote in a SAPA type union, and not vote in ALPA (again).

Maybe but my only poin is that if the talent and experience is coming from the same pool of pilots, then there is no difference in the leadership of said union except for that their efforts would be much easier with the resources of ALPA.

You were in a situation you hated, and fixed it. Just because others did not or do not hate it does not make them flawed.
One of the big reasons I chose Mesa was to fly the Dash in the Rockies. There will always be sissy jets to fly . The Dash community was very special and its last day will be a sad one. The people I met and flew with were phenomenal. I had a tremendous time and stories to last the rest of my life.
I'll take it, even if it is reluctant. What gratitude does the profession owe specifically to the MAG MEC? Some for at least two things. They and ALPA national stopped JO's efforts to launch a B737 LCC based in PHL. They successfully fought MAG to a stand-still and forced them to abandon a non-union alter ego carrier, the original Freedom.
You can find them by the chocolate river, lactating into it.

True. There were several reasons for my choice. Even furloughed, I would not turn back the clock and choose SKW. If I had, I'd be very junior in FAT, no upgrade in site, ugly two leg commute, and still be dreaming of the streets paved with gold in the left seat. Now I know that the job is cool, but not cool enough to be away from home so much.
How about Mrs. Williams? Just kidding.
Tony, Rickair, and the rest of you- Take care and have a safe, healthy, properous 2010.
The Dash Whisperer
What I was unable to do was put up with not being accorded basic dignity and respect by my employer.
Had more to do with self-respect than non-hacking
Now I do recall hearing that the dash community was often it's own little world, and not always subject to the same crap the jet guys had to deal with.
...I am pro union (reluctantly). But I said that SKW does not owe anything to MAG ALPA. I agree that SKW has benefited from the historical presence of unions in the industry.

Ameriflight is still hiring and has ran a class every month since I started here (Sept 09). They plan to continue doing that into and throughout 2010. Upgrade to a turboprop can be quick if you're willing to move (6 months).
I recommend calling them after you send your resume.. they like to see dedication on the pilots part.
Also, fwiw, I am furloughed ExpressJet and am looking forward to getting recalled. From what I understand though, most pilots at Ameriflight do not move laterally to the regionals.
Best of luck!

The money stays in house, with full control of said money (with inhouse union).

And in ALPA the regionals are subsidized by the large major airlines so more money is available than what would have been with an in house union. And that money is in the full control of the respective regional MECs.
