SkyWest Hiring......VLA program suspended

Boy, that would be great! No more ever sitting reserve. No more trips messed up by weather or mechanical problems. No more management take-backs in benefits or work rules. I hear they have rivers of chocolate and buildings of cake and gingerbread...kind of like Candyland.

This is straight form VERY credible source at SKW....
"The word is that we are going to hire. How many is still an unknown but it looks to be at least 16 that will all go into the EMB. My understanding is that United furloughs have priority. After them it will be ASA furloughs and then those who are in the pool for the EMB. The last I checked we had at least 50 who are in the EMB pool. After these groups have been offered classes they will begin calling those who have resumes on file for interviews. It's not likely they will be doing any interviews for the 16 spots that have been talked about so far due to the number of furlough and poolies we have right now but I would make sure you get your resume on file asap. There are many scenarios circling right now that would require we hire more than 16 pilots and if that ends up being the case I think they call to offer interviews on a first come, first served basis so long as you meet their requirements."

I've heard lots of interesting rumors lately, mostly involving expansion of the Air Tran stuff. Smells an awful lot like what was going around the last time there was a strong ALPA sentiment on property.....

No, you misunderstand (well, my approach briefing wasn't thorough enough! LOL) I'm with mesa for now! I have my furlough letter in hand and am just patiently awaiting the day I will turn in my badge.
I'm thankful for what I have, I just wish I could stay and keep flying. But, our management has not secured us with flying enough to keep our birds in the air, so they're gettin rid of me, which is why I've applied to Skywest.
...and in all honesty, I've never been jacked with while working for Mesa. I've never had any of the horror stories happen that I've heard and read about. I came with my ATP and plenty of time. I went to Mesa under the uninformed idea that I'd be able to have Phoenix as a base(my bad!) I appreciate the opportunity I've been given and look forward to my next aviation industry adventure!

Brother, I'm sorry you're out on furlough. That really sucks. But, honestly, SkW never did anything to you.
You obviously know that there will be ENDLESS reserve, sitting in FRESNO, so your second sentence is pure BS.
Obviously, your third sentence is buffoonery, as all airlines are subject to WX and MX.
Now, the work rules.... yes, I'll give you that. There appears to be a bit of take-back. And the rest, of course there is chocolate (low fat, of course... gotta keep those FA's slim and trim), and they have found that the cake and gingerbread doesn't hold up well to snow storms. Effective immediately, they'll be built with the backs of underpaid, new hire FO's, just like in every airline.
