I heard the 16 new spots they were projecting to hire were cancelled. I am not sure if it was because the VLOA pilots filled all vacancies or what the reason is. But the FO position on their website is closed and it was only open for 2 weeks when it was projected to be open for at least a month.

My application status still says being reviewed if that makes any difference.

From our CP:

"Skywest has decided to not conduct any new hire classes at this time. They will be recalling Skywest pilots on voluntary leave instead.

All interviews have been canceled"

I don't get it. What does Vietnamese food have to do with hiring?

He is referring to the ASA Vietnam rumor. He is just thinking that if it is actually true that it'll be flown by Skywest and not ASA.

I doubt that Vietnam rumor is true.

Yes, and RSV at SkyWest is horrific.

Reserve at Skywest is no worse than it is at any other airline.

How would you like a line built on 20 8-hr ready reserve shifts, (6AM-2PM, 10AM-6PM, 2PM-10PM, your choice if you're senior enough)?

exactly. I could name a dozen things off the top of my head why rsv at SKW is 10 times better than at AE.

Yep. I really do think the rumor has something to it. ASA management is running around like chickens with their heads cut off talking about it. Even Brad is spreading it.

I think ASA will be contributing the planes since we have at least 6 extra, and possibly another 2 for 1 deal in the works. I think SkyWest will contribute the crews because our management has said they want to hold some sort of application process and "hand pick" the pilots who go. Under our contract, there's no way they can do that without giving the union concessions. They can do what they want with you.
