ASA Furloughs/Skywest Hiring!?!

Right you are sir because the regional world revolves around Gojet. It's unfortunate that it came to 2 lists like in this example but it was due to the fact that the union failed to realize the importance of securing the flying for the future of tsa. They played with management with no leverage or time against what alpa was telling them and they lost because of a foolish agenda of MEC. Actually they didn't lose they moved on, the current pilots lost, that is if TSA is still around next year. Pretty sad actually.
But to the original poster, I would hope you guys can get preferential hiring at what amounts to your own company, just some question as to whether the United furloughs get some preference. I seriously doubt it will be poolies that get the 18 or so jobs. And if it is... ASA ALPA should try to fix it.
P.S. I'm pretty sure that RJSAviator was kidding when he made his gojet comment... but nice to see you defend your awesome choices anyway. No matter how many times you spit out that wad which I see you've condensed it will never be the truth.

Whether or not the jobs are offered to UAL guys depends on the contract. If SKW does not have to do that, they probably won't.
If they don't go to UAL, it would make sense (from a business perspective, not just a pilot perspective) to hire ASA furloughs. It would generate some good will and would not cost anything training-wise in the long run.
By the time those furloughs go back to ASA, they will probably need full training anyway...give the option at SKW.
I can't think of any good reason to hire poolies before ASA people. But the poolies did get an email updating them on the situation, but it did not sound like they knew who was going to get the jobs.
ASA ALPA should make a trip to SGU to discuss this.

I hope the 16 go to the Brasilia not the jet. Since we are short (or at least feels like it) on the fo side plus there are almost 150 wanting to transition to the jet from the bro

Too bad this section of the ASA ALPA Contract doesn't apply.
F. Fragmentation
1. If the Company transfers (by sale, lease or other transaction) five (5) or more
aircraft in any twelve (12) consecutive month period to any air carrier(s) owned
and/or controlled by SkyWest, Inc. or by any entity that owns and/or controls
SkyWest, Inc. (SkyWest, Inc. entity(ies)) then, regardless of whether the
transfer is to one or more SkyWest, Inc. entity(ies), beginning with the fifth
transferring aircraft, the Company will require the SkyWest, Inc. entity(ies) to
which the aircraft are transferred to offer employment to Company pilots on the
Pilots’ seniority list in accordance with the following provisions:
a. The number of Company pilots who will be offered an opportunity to transfer
will be five (5) Captains and five (5) First Officers for each of the transferring
aircraft, beginning with the fifth such transferring aircraft, and for each further transferring aircraft.

Yay for United guys replacing their own jobs for less than half the wage... lets hope none of them take Skywest up on the offer.

I'm not going to get to in depth on my feelings on this but the truth is that this is unacceptable. SKYW needs to start thinking before decisions like this. Over the last few years ASA pilots have seen SKYW pilots grow their flying out of their only base, and furloughs for the first time in company history. On top of this Hiring has been announced at Skywest. Throughout this process we are having PBS shoved down our throats and slashes in medical benefits. Although I try to keep an open mind I am finding it dificult to do so. I don't see growth coming as a result of PBS, I fear the battle with management is starting again and the hope of a future for ASA is fading with our lack of union leadership. I think we need to send a strong signal by voting no on PBS, when management shows they are ready to support us then we will support them.

PBS will only further reduce your staffing.
If anything, you guys should press the company to merge your lists. There's always potential for badness when you have 1 company and 2 seniority lists.

Going to be impossible to merge the two lists while SKYW remains non-union.
