Default Attn Waterskiiers new UAL travel program

New program means that everyone has to fax forms to the travel office by Dec 14th. If you miss the deadline you will not have any travel bennies on United for all of 2010. Details and forms are on tsaops.

Yea. Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't sound too bad now. Flat fee for an entire year of space avail. seats on mainline and UAX for partners, family, etc. Compared to the last set of benes, this is leaps and bounds ahead.

Buttttttt of course they give us less than 2 weeks to get the form in or else no benes AT ALL.

Actually looks like a pretty brilliant move on the part of united. If they had just taken our previous benefits and started charging for them, we would have been annoyed. So instead, they changed them to some ridiculous leg-based fees, left it for a few months, THEN changed it to this delta-esque system... Now we're happy to be paying "only" $75 a year to get what we were getting for free a year ago...

(The only positive new development is the "enrolled friend" thing)

At least they're going to stop charging me to commute to work...

I'm paying about $230 a year with Delta to get what used to be free, so I'd say you're doing pretty well...

oh yeah...9E flying benefits are the laughing stock among all regionals, including other DL connection carriers..I can't understand why 9E can't have the same as the other DL regionals (don't tell me it has to do with the non-wholly owned, as 9E employees had everything under the NWA umbrella)...how much more would it cost DL allowing 9E (and all DL regionals for that matter) employees having unlimited overseas travel like they had before...or allowing parents to travel without the ZED High Fares... a few companion passes...

Not to mention the boarding priorities now.. Once our "3" international travel days are up, on ZED tickets we have to buy to travel on DL/NW overseas, we also lose our boarding seniority and board AFTER the buddy pass riders now..the last ones to get on after friends of employees get on....wow...

As a general rule, I refuse to use my Delta "benefits" or should I say "detriments".

I prefer to use other airlines to jumpseat and to send loved ones on.

Delta loves to create brand loyalty by making its subcontractors encourage their relatives to spend money for tickets on airlines other than Delta. Oh yeah, you bet I do.
