Which is a shame because we really should be offering them a chance, before anyone else.

According to the latest WE ARE ALPA issue PDT has not furloughed. I guess I am just taking an unwanted unpaid vacation. No one cares about US Air wholly pwnds, not even enough to check if we have furloughs. Our MEC puts out emails about how they are working on preferential hiring but even with a few ALPA carriers hiring they still can't manage to get anything worked out. Who cares about 62 pilots anyway?

Kenny,
I agree. There are a LOT of pilots out there who are furloughed and deserve a chance. So even if we hire a Mesa furlough--that is equally as good.

This is not going to be popular but they should be the last we offer jobs to. PDT, PSA and Comair, should be at the top of the list.

He might be misinformed as well. I was just posting the info as I received them, that's why I said "apparently" there is a preferential hiring agreement, but if it is true, I don't know. I guess not.

Yes, it does suck when another regional carrier flying for the same mainline carrier is hiring and another furloughing. I'm furloughed Comair, and I do think it is BS when we were furloughing 300+ pilots and Mesaba and Compass were hiring.

Why? You should be hired based on experience and attitude, not which regional airline that you worked for prior to AWAC. One of my good friends who will be in the FEB 22 class was just laid off from Mesa last month. Great guy, interviewed well I am sure, and was offered a job. Big deal, he is a good guy and a great pilot. So what, he worked for Mesa for two years. Worked out well for him because it was the only regional airline in PHX.

This is a dog eat dog industry. I personally think that a freight dog ought to be offered the position before any previous 121 guys....as they would be fresh, easy to mold to our policies and proceedures, and happy to be here.

That's not entirely true. It is true they have to like you or see some reason for success in training, but it's not true that just because they like you you'll do well in training.

They're looking for people who'll fit in in the company culture and who will have success in training and on the line.

WOW!!

You can glean all that, just from reading a resume?

Genuine supermen (and women) that is for sure. They truly are the best of the best then!!

Surely, I cower, crawl away, hunch and hide in the myriad dark shadows for being unworthy...... Really

I, myself, am of the disposition that a thorough HR department would require more than that, perhaps bring you in for the interview process.
Unless, they are just sooo good at portending your ability to be a successful pilot by just reading your resume.

Please, please, do not start a flamer by getting off on the wrong foot here,
but, I myself
feel that I am better off not to be around such genius, if indeed they can tell your future probability of sucess with the company just by reading your rez..

If you don't want to work at Air Wisconsin, don't apply.

All I'm saying is that time alone and resumé numbers alone don't guarantee success, at Air Wisconsin or anywhere else. Not sure where you get off on your tangent.

History has shown that not all high timers breeze through training and not all low timers are useless deadweight. That's all.

Fact is that if they have 25 spots and 1000+ applicants it's going to be hard to decide who to pick. Probably hundreds of very, very qualified folks. And I can say with some certainty that it won't be the 25 who simply have the highest time.

Again, if you don't want to work at Air Wisconsin, don't.
