AWAC Hiring Spring 2010
#91
Hmmmm. So, it appears that pilots are getting turned down or not getting a reply. I looked over the app and it asks you whether or not you are subject to recall. Its asks it in such a way that makes me believe that if you answer yes you won't get called.
So my question is, are they not taking guys who are furloughed? How many guys would give up their position to jump ship to awac. Considering that if they still have a position they've rode out a furlough at their current employer (and jumping to the bottom of another list just wouldn't make sense).
it just seems as though its a 'weeding out' question even though they say they prefer guys with 121 experience. They must know that 90% of every 121 guy is 'subject' to recall. The other 10% are folks whose companies are sadly no more.
Someone mentioned internal recs is the only way in. Probably. Is there anyone out there who actually has an interview?

My interest is piqued... Has anybody NOT gotten the thanks but no thanks letter?
Furthermore I think AWAC is as good a place to be as anywhere. I'm a SkyWester and my best bud is at Wisconsin so naturally we compare our situations. It seems you have far less lifers than we do which means more movement once things pickup. You have far fewer airframes, so if you got awarded flying, even a small amount, it would make a big difference (we gain and lose 10 A/C for United every few months). Great contract, and with the new scheduling and trip adding/splitting software their QOL just got better, (although with PBS and our "Skedplus+" I still get better schedules but thats a whole 'nother can of worms). So I really think it sounds like a great place to be.

You pretty much need an internal recommendation everywhere these days, especially if there is very limited hiring, like AWAC only going to hire 20-30 guys. FWIW, I heard from an AWAC guy they got an e-mail from HR saying where to send internal recs and resumes, but your recommendation almost has to come from someone who is a pilot at AWAC and you have flown with in the past.

Buddy don’t try to make it harder!!!! It's nothing to do with recall...I'm not recall. I'm currently flying as part 121. With bla, bla, bla. I received - THANK BUT NOT THANK!!! Also.
No matters what is your time, your experience you need to have "inter. rec." You don't have to be a rocket scientist. They turned down guys with 4,000 hrs, part 121, Crj type.

Just a thought, no reply necessary, but WHAT IF, you were someone that had an English - Anglo sounding last name, were young and fit , had good credit, came from money so they knew you would not go without, so to speak. Had an Eddie Haskel like personality, carried your log book in a special custom carry case. Do you think this,"imaginary dude", would get rejected from Air Wisconsin?
Feel free to opine............
Mind you, none of the above warrants any merit regarding your flying abilities.
