Xjet to fly 22 airplanes for UAL
#22
Thanks Joey and others for your replies. I agree, we will have to wait and see. One thing I have learned in this industry, if the majors want QAULITY and not LOW COST, I think You guys/gals as well as others like Comair may finally have a fighting chance. Again CONGRATS!!!!

I think the new flying is great and is a positive step for the profession but i hate seeing guys lose their jobs . I hate to be a johnny raincloud but this flying (its not mesa's) was done by Mesa and they will be laying off hundreds of guys. My thoughts and prayers go out to those guys and girls. It is a bittersweet victory for our company.
Pilot compensation, contractual QOL, and maintenance comparisons between Mesa and XJT are .... amazing that they are both grouped in the same category of lift providers.

Ahhhhh how about all the UAL mainline guys that lost there jobs, and how many less mainline jobs there are now.
The 22 airplanes should be A320/19's coming back out of the desert.
That would be good news.

the flying will be through DEN/ORD/IAD I believe, but not sure what combo of these will be a base, probably just one, I dunno yet. I believe the block hr increase is 10-15% so even though its 22-33 a/c I am not sure how hard these airplanes will be flying and what the staffing requirement for bases will be. Sure will be nice for people to leave EWR so I can get back to day trips and weekends off

I dont think there was a political reason for picking XJT. Our company went in skinny on the deal. I also believe UAL or CAL might merge but i dont think they could give a rats butt over who flies their regionals.

But that would reqire some forward thinking, wouldn't it?! These forms are way too saturated with guys too self-absorbed with their own companys. God forbid RAH would have been awarded more flying too! I can only imagine the "they took our jobs" mantra, coming from the guys with still damp commercial tickets from a variety of companies. In the end, I hope UAL guys and furloughed Mesa guys get preferential hiring at Xjet when things get ramped up again. Would this not be the ALPA thing to do? Discuss...

That would be great but it would never happen. Realistically speaking there will never be a recapturing of scope unless there is government intervention or massive concessions. This contract moved flying away from pilots making poverty wages and who were treated horribly by management to a better paid pilot group and a more respectable management. Very rare.
