Question from an outsider:
Didn't AWAC pilots take concessions a few years ago when UAL was doing its shakeup amongst feeder carriers in order to retain their United flying? Weren't these concessions based solely on AWAC retaining that flying? Then, didn't management impose those concessions (and continue to do so) after they lost the United flying, in violation of the agreement?
My memory may be a bit foggy on everything that was happening back then and with which carriers. I could be thinking of ACA, later known as Independence.

I'm glad the AWAC MEC had the sack to tell the management what they did. UAL has bent them over way too many times.

There was this letter from the MEC, but we did not get any news (good or bad) from the company.
I think everyone agrees that they made the right decision in declining (further) concessions for more flying. We will not participate in the race to the bottom.

I personally think the company already knows if we have the flying or not. This is just a last attempt to undermine the pilot group and put us up against all other pilot groups in the RFP.
If EVERY airline out there would take this action by our MEC and learn from it; mainline airlines would be forced to pay their own pilots to fly these things and everyone wins. Well when we all get hired by mainline..everyone wins.
I sure don't like Mesa, but I am not about to have my pilot group go against everything we believe in.

Wasn't AWAC the same company that United tried to bend over and AWAC told them to stuff it. Then United came groveling back to try to keep the 146's to still serve Aspen and again were told to stuff it? If so why would AWAC now want anything to do with a POS operation like that?

If AWAC took a concession that still had them getting paid more and operating under a better contract than Mesa...wouldn't that flying going to a better paid/better work rules airline be raising the bar?
(in all seriousness, hats off to awac, I hope you are rewarded for standing up for whats right)

we signed a contract back in 06 not to take consessions to obtain additional flying so y the company asked us to do that we have no idea. Either the flying is ours and the company is trying to make a bigger profit or the flying is still out there we don't know yet.

When AWAC took the concessions in 2003 it was simply to retain the flying that we already had with United. We were asked for concessions after MESA took thier POS contract which then made AWAC too expensive, which we fell for. The second time United came to us for concessions the pilot group told them to stick it. This resulted in the transition to US Airways while AWAC management kept in place the concessionary contract that was only to be in effect if the United flying was secure.
It warms my heart to see the pilot group still at AWAC is willing to hold the line.
