I just got the recall letter the other day. I'm currently out here in OKC going through enroute training for ATC. I will be done here end of January and then off the Miami Center. Hopefully I can wait to defer after I get done here just to be on the safe side. I'm about 99.9% sure I'm gonna stay here and do ATC. To be honest, I love doing it, I majored in air traffic managment back at Riddle.
On the other hand, I do miss flying the erj and I miss jumpseating to wherever I want to go but I really don't miss the qol. I wish the best of luck to all that go back to TSA, I'm pullin' for ya.

Yea there's no point in worrying about going back until they actually have the official deal. I guess we'll find out this month since classes are starting in DEC. Any word if the announcement is coming tomorrow or this week?

Well.... yes if they can't staff the airplanes they'll need to hire new pilots... I just noticed on the tsa website that they updated pilot minimums, it used to be 500/50 a short time ago.

They won't hire until all have been recalled or those that have bypassed have lost those final rights as well...don't know the details there, but I wouldn't expect much in the way of new-hires.

One thing to remeber is that with the United guys on the street, once all of the furloughed guys that want to come back are back, they will probably be taking advantage of the jets for jobs agreement if there is one that has been drafted with TSA. I am not sure, someone on here probably knows more about it than me. But there are a few that have been going to that airline across the hall. Just food for thought. Hopefully we will get an announcement today as to what is bringing about these furloughs.

Last time I talked to RZ, which was a few months ago, he told me he hoped to have everybody back from furlough within the year or within a year (can't remember exactly which he said). Maybe he already had an idea that this could happen and maybe not, but it is good to see that management is actively seeking more flying to get us back in the cockpit. I don't think they enjoy furloughing us any more than we do. I'm anxiously awaiting the announcement about this potential flying. At the same time, I feel bad for the other people who are losing flying. Sucks knowing your friends are on the chopping block while you're getting hired to do the same thing they are. Quite an industry.

Yes. I am officially announcing that I love Boulevard Wheat beer. I've mentioned it in the past, but this is the first official news regarding the subject.
