TSA Recalls?
#141
I've heard a rumor that this additional flying isn't going to be EMB but Concorde. HK is planning on bringing them back and the delay is caused by the training department trying to find a Concorde simulator to use for training. Just a rumor.

From the MEC
Fellow Pilots,
This is Captain xxxxxxxxxx, MEC Chairman, with a special announcement on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Last
Wednesday during negotiations the Association was informed by the Company that 133 recall notices were being mailed
the following day because of the “possibility” that Trans States could be a recipient of new flying from the UAL RFP
(Request for Proposal). We are excited at the possibility for additional flying and the return of all our furloughed brethren.
At the Company’s request we were asked not to put out any public communications regarding the RFP while the Company
awaited news of the results. TSA Management was optimistic about being awarded some of the RFP but remained guarded
until they received official confirmation. It was originally believed news of the result would officially come no later than
yesterday. Unfortunately, per Company Management there has been no official confirmation that TSA won any or part of
the UAL RFP.
We will pass on additional information as it is officially released by the Company. In an effort to dispel many of the rumors
and completely false information that is circulating within the pilot group, I recommend each of you contact your Status
Representative, An MEC Officer or members of the Negotiating Committee (if pertinent) for factual information before
continuing to spread misinformation. Chances are if it sounds extreme or unlikely it probably is. Gossip, rumors and
misinformation fail to provide anything of value other than meaningless entertainment. We are all reachable by telephone
or email so please contact someone to verify the facts first.

How long do companies take to consider RFPs, do they tell prospective regionals in private as far as potential results? I'm guessing TSA is confident they'll get it if they sent out notices of recalls about a week before the results are supposed to come out. Well at least we know the announcement will come soon if it was supposed to come out yesterday!

I can appreciate your optimism but I also wouldn't put this past management at TSA. If they did send these out without knowing they had the flying, that is just incredibly irresponsible.

There was no need for them to send out official certified letters, and oddly enough right before the announcement is supposed to come out if they didn't know something. If they really are guesstimating they could have just emailed us through the MEC about the possibility of recalls. But then again this could be just another way to torment the pilot group by making things look official.
