That doesn't really make much sense though. A recalled employee will take almost to get online as someone hired off the street. These days you can find LOTS of pilots with Jet 121 experience so I doubt the training process would be any worse than a recall. Why not just announce they're getting the UA flying, do the recall, and then hire the rest? I doubt UA cares how TSA finds pilots, just as long as the planes take UA's customers from A to B on schedule.

The recall classes are running like a recurrent class, so there is about a week of groundschool and then less than a week in the sim. They can have the recalled guys back online in about 2 weeks time from what I have heard from the few that got called back a few weeks ago. New hire class with Indoc and Systems is 6 weeks plus then about a week and a half of sim. Not a whole lot of check airman right now either. I just want some information, but I van't even get anyone there to return a phone call.

Has anyone tried to contact the company or ALAP?

If so, what was the response??

That doesn't make any sense. If flying was based on how many pilots would be available, wouldn't the company tell us all to come back because we need you to get the flying??

I have tried calling one of the FM's in STL and that call has not been returned. Haven't heard boo from ALPA, but I am trying to find the furlough rep's number, but have not been successful finding that. Other than that, it has all been rumor and gossip.

Simply put, because it is TSA.

I started a 4-day in STL today and stopped by the flight managers' office to see if I could find out anymore info about what's happening. I walked in and the place was mostly dark and every desk was unoccupied except for one in-flight manager or supervisor. She said everybody's lips were zipped about what was going on and that the rumors here are the same as the rumors there. She said the flight managers must be up in the ivory tower in meetings, making some decisions. There are lots of rumors flying around right now and it's unfortunate we haven't heard anything official yet. Hopefully something comes out soon.

Well, it's gonna have to come out soon, or else they are going to be starting fresh with a bunch of new guys, cause no one can make yet another life altering decision without having any information. My wife is ready to go beat down FO's door and give him a piece of her mind. I gave her the address....

Alpa is in the same boat as you. No idea what's going on. Unfortunatley.

Yeah, I just spoke with one of our ALPA reps via text and he said the company is keeping them in the dark too so obviously they haven't told us anything yet because they know nothing. Maybe you're the one I talked to elcid, I dunno.
