With all the money Skywest just loaned UAL I think and hope that skywest gets its. Realistically who else could/would get it?

AWAC could get a piece of it as they're the only regional that can fly anything larger than 70 seats for United per UAL ALPA scope...but then again that would require hell freezing over.

I don't get why they don't do something. Do they really think the airways thing is going to last forever? Or even 50 seaters for that matter...

Most of us have embraced the reality that those airframes are gone. The way the contract reads, the 50 seaters leave in April 2010. UA doesn't have to tell us anything, unless they want to extend the contract.

Reality sucks, but why not embrace it. There's nothing any of us pilots can do, so I put on a smile, go to work, enjoy my time off, and continue to pursue other means of employment.

I can't remember, but wasn't that flying restricted to the SPECIFIC tail numbers of the AVRO? Thought I saw that on a commute one time.

Or did that get canned in the second concession?

I believe you are right, not sure it's still in effect.

Who didn't see that one coming !!!! For the very survival of SkyWest (in it's current form) they have to keep UAL going, whether a cash handout, "investment", buy out, etc.

Correct, I think we can assume that the RFP was issued for three possible reasons:

1. UA intends to terminate mesa.

2. Since their contract was up, UA wanted a fresh, competitive bid rather than a one-source renewal. This is a buyer's market for regional feed...may as well go shopping.

2. They were concerned that mesa would liquidate and leave them scrambling.

We don't know which it is (could be a combination).

Very true....Let's take this to the next step...

I doubt this is the last lifeline that Skywest throws to United....What happens when the next move is a RAH/Frontier/Midex type lifeline? That's going to be an interesting seniority integration....
