Yup it's ugly and this next (batch of 13 Saabs) will probably push it all the way back to pre bankruptcy 2004 Captains, maybe a few reserve MEM capts may be 2007ers but even that won't last long.... Heck as things look now, within about a year or so it will require pre-bankruptcy hiring to even have a job here....

I'm not sure where you get the info from, but we really have no idea what's going to happen. I have been told by many people here and at DAL/NWA, that the plan is to keep on painting the Saabs till they get 26 of them done. The plan is to take a look at load and capacity demand next summer to determine if more airplanes will go...we don't know anything yet. Alot of it has to do with the economy turning around and if people want to go on vacation. When DAL and NWA have a single operating certificate we will know alot more. The writing may be on the wall, but so many things have happened post bankrupcy at XJ, it's unfair to assume whats going to happen longterm here.

Most don't like the option but it is insurance.
I believe that HSA are great and should be an option for all employees in addition to standard health plan.

As a single guy I would pay $30 a month on a high deductible health plan vs the $150 I pay now. Thats $1440 a year less. My single deductible is $1200 so as long as I do not get sick more than once every 10 months, I come out ahead.

Max out of pocket is $4750 after deductible so even if both my legs fell off I would only be about $4750.

The trick is to have the company contribute to the HSA instead of paying your health care costs. This is something to be worked out at the table when working on a CBA. It would actually save the company money.

Many mainline pilots who make more use HSA as an extra 401(k) when they max out their 401(k) yearly contribution

Not sure how many furloughs, I think its around 150
Not like it makes much difference, but with the 4 re-upgrades and 8 recalls (I think the number of terminations and resignations still technically puts the total number of pilots at a loss compared to right after the last furlough)

Junior CA DOH 05/2004 IAD
Junior FO DOH 05/2007 IAD

STL
Jr CA 01/2003
Jr FO 03/2007

RIC

Jr CA 04/2004
Jr FO 04/2007

Quick math shows about 132 on the street.

These numbers never cease to amaze me. . Does anyone think they'll even hire in the next 10 years?

Yes. As long as the keep the same size fleet the retirements are bound to kick in and AA has one of the older seniority lists. Average age I heard was mid 50's.
