DASH 8 vs Citation X
Here is a funny little story that happened to me at CLT. We are holding short of E2 on E near the approach end of RW 36C waiting for departure. There are 2 ways to access the runway, continue on E or E2. There is an Airbus holding short on E and E2 is free. We are holding short of E2 because we have not been instructed which taxiway we will use to enter the runway. Tower tells a regional behind us to hold short of 36C on E2. The regional acknowledges the instructions then asks the tower if he would ask the "Slowtation" to pull ahead so they can have access. Of course the controller asks us to move forward. I respond "sure, but I wouldn't call Mach .92 slow"! After a few seconds pause the other pilot replies in a little "I just upgraded to Captain voice " 250 below 10". I know it was the Captain who responded because further transmissions from this aircraft was a female/different voice. At this point I decide not to dignify his response and drop the banter. As we continue on E and are now holding short of 36C, I am able to look over to my right and see who was calling us slow. It was a DASH 8!! Are you kidding me??? We operate Citation X's. First off I would like to say that his initial comment was unprofessional and if your going to attempt to insult another aircraft, you should definitely be flying something more sophisticated and faster.

Plus you should have told him your APC name is "Maxspeed," you could not say that if it wasn't true.

I've been waiting for someone to call us a "slowtation". That is some poor aircraft recognition. We pretty much always are a slowtation because ATC doesnt know how to sequence arrival traffic with us when we are decending at .92 from FL450 so they just spin us behind the big iron or slow us to 250 kts. The speed is nice though when noone is in the way.
However, I cant talk since I have more T-prop time than I probably ever will Jet time; I'm sure I've been in the way my fair share.

NEWS FLASH: There are some regional pilots to say stupid, immature things on the radio.
BREAKING NEWS: The same holds true for legacy/LCC airline pilots, corporate pilots, charter pilots, student pilots, and pretty much segment of the population that flies an airplane.
Personally, I always smile when I hear somebody call me a "Slowtation"...and 30 minutes after takeoff we're at FL450 and flying at our .737MMo in smooth air while all those faster airliners are bailing out of the 30s into the low and upper 20s due to poor rides.
Just let it go...

Citation = slowtation. Most every airplane has one condescending nickname. Everyone knows that. It was just a harmless joke. Get over it.

We do our best in the dash not to slow you guys up too much. 200 kts as long as possible or even 170 kts til 5 out just so we don't act too much like speed bumps. Hell, if we told ATC "No" and followed our profiles 100% it would be 160 kts until a dot and half, get configured and fly around 120 kts until 1,000 feet and then 110 kts to the runway. I think if we did that, CLT would probably die and you jet guys would hate us even more.
Sadly, that Dash was Piedmont, and I think I know who that Captain was. If it is who I think it is, he is a lifer and has been here longer than I have been alive. So please don't think bad about Piedmont guys. Most of us just want to get our time and move on to better things. Although we do have guys who are 30+ years.

You'd like this one:
2 years ago, JFK. We're holding short of the runway (Hawker 800), behind us, a Comair CRJ. Ground said "Executive jet 895, taxi across the runway and hold short on the other side" I replied..... ground then says "Comair ###, taxi into position and hold" the comair F/O said something like "what about this little jet infront of us, is he going to get out of the way"....
funny thing is we were going to Cancun, they were probably going to Albany or Syracuse
