Another 13 Saabs to leave Mesaba in 2009

PS. The Farang is still a little bitter over the Mesaba/Xjet issue in RST. He doesn't care too much for Mesaba. He's just flaming on this board.

That would make too much sense. The turboprop has a bright future, and the new ATR I hear, is more comfortable than the CRJ.

This little birdy is all just a figment of your imagination. We don't want to hear about the voices in your head.
Once Delta announced that the first 10 Saabs were going back it was a no-brainer that they would continue.

ha ha give me a break. Stop the flame. That won't happen. The 50 capacity reductions is believable. But you have to remember that SkyWest, Pinnacle and Comair (just to name a few) are MAJOR 200 operators and when their contracts are up (I know Comair is wholly owned and doesn't have a contract) that's where the 200 reduction will occur. Mesaba isn't getting rid of their 200s just yet.

++1. Well put. XJ only has 16 CRJ200s and they are not going anywhere for a while. If I was a gambling man, I'd put my money on most of the Saabs going away but XJ getting more CRJ7s and CRJ9s from another DCI carrier. The total number of pilots at XJ may decrease from 1170 but not by much by the time 2010 rolls around. DAL has something planned for XJ in 2010 and from all indications, it is positive.
DAL is putting pressure on SkyWest at SLC. Next time you fly to SLC just count the number of XJ CRJ9s there. Heck they even put a note in the DAL crewroom that Mesaba flight crews are entitled to use their bag room and their crewroom.

Skywest/ASA is 2020.
Pinnacle's is 2017.
That will be a while until either of those get reductions in 50 seaters, unless they are exchanges for 900's (which they can't current due to scope) or they fail to meet performance goals. Look at how much hassle MESA has been for Delta to get rid of. Reduction will come from the wholly owns.
You heard it hear first folks. Sorry for the bad news.
Little hint fellas..There is a reason no 200's have gone to paint...
