CRJ7s, E170/175s and CRJ9s are interim gap measures until 100 seat jets become available. DAL management will surely try to discuss 100 seat flying going to DCI in the near future. I hope DALPA can succeed in keeping 76 seat plus flying whether they are turboprops or jets at mainline DAL.
Yeah, again, what I should have said is that with these new terms, the 200's MAY become economically feasible. At least enough to put them back in the air. It all depends on how low Bombardier, and their banks, are willing to go.

Which time???

If you are talking about the final parking/return to Europe, yes that was started as soon as they announced the scamruptcy.

Actually I think what happened was that NWA announced that the AVROs were leaving. Then NWA went Shamacy, then Delta the same day, and us within a day or two.

The first time was purely a negotiating strategy to complete the 03/04 pilot contract. While what is happening now is tragic the whole shamacy was an utter nightmare.

BTW, these next 13 and most of the first 10 SAABs aren't leaving until 2010 so we are going the slow painful death route.

Hate to say this cause I have many buddies at XJ...
But I have a buddy at at Delta that works in DCI planning in SOC in ATL, and he says the samething that the FARANG is saying...
major cuts at Comair and XJ, and that XJ will be an only 900 operation in the future.. didnt ask the time frame.
No flame, just passing info.
He also had the same info about the saabs months ago.

Could be... He didnt say anything to that, just that being a "wholy owned regional at DCI will not be good over the next several years"
but u never know... like I said. I heard the same as the FARANG.

I say bring back ACA... the best regional ever!!

I don't disagree with being an all jet fleet but it will not be just 41 airframes. Look for flying from the non-wholly owned to get shifted to wholly owned as well when their contracts are up.

You are absolutely right. There are a lot of 50 seat regional jets sitting in the dessert with 5-8 yrs left on their hulls that you can pick up for pennies on the dollar. They might burn more gas then a turboprop but their lease payments will be almost nothing and the airline could potentially own those aircraft outright very quickly. You would also have less maintenance issues with an older more mature airframe as compared to the teething problems with the q400 or the brand new atr's that they are coming out with. American and northwest both learned that when you dont have to make a lease payment you can afford to be a little inneffeicient in other areas (aka md 80's, dc-9)

Fuel might have made them innefficient but the fact that everyone tried dumping them at the same time is making them attractive again.

I believe that DCI is headquartered in MSP.

Everyone has a buddy somewhere that thinks they know something about everything.
