I just want to say sorry to all the XJ guys and gals, I have many friends over at Mesaba and wish them the best of luck. Also, the Saab has a big soft spot in my heart and I dread hearing this news. Not only has the Saab been the inspiration of my airline career, but also its my ride home.

Does anyone have any details of what EAS cities there going to cut? Is it going to be system wide? Or are they going to just cut a whole Saab base out? I'm just praying that the MSP Saab fleet isn't part of the next 13.....

The RJ200s are scheduled to be painted. I'm tired of FARANG making stuff up and spouting off random rumors that have been proven wrong.
Mesaba can't paint the whole fleet all at once. The 200 does ZERO blue tail flying. That is ONE reason the 200s haven't been painted yet. The 200 has really new paint. That's another reason. The 200s are covering some of the 900 and Saab routes while they are being painted. That's the main reason they aren't being painted YET. In one of our company updates (which Farang doesn't get) Spanjers said the 200s will begin the painting process once the 900s are done.
Seriously, if I hear one more person say we are losing the 200s JUST because they're not getting painted I might go postal.

So what are you saying, you are not losing the 200's because they are not getting painted?

Serious Question - One of my FO's recently said 9E was told to stop painting 200's. He crash pads with some 9E FO's. Is there any truth in this?

this should be a damper on any painting/parking rumors

fact: they are painting saabs
fact: they are parking saabs

that is all anyone knows as far as painting parking

Yes, this sucks but there are bigger pieces that Farang is missing. Someone else said this but it's oh so true; we knew the Saabs were on there way back for a long time. There are other companies overseas that are willing to pay more. This has been public knowledge for quite a long time. The only wildcard was what DCI was willing to do. Now we know.

Delta is now in the process of negotiating a LOT of items that will impact XJ. Some in a negative light, mostly positive. They are actively negotiating new terms on the 200 and 700's. Once that's done, they will be distributed throughout DCI appropriately.

ACL65 probably has more info on what's happening at mainline that will effect XJ but from everything I hear, the lost Saabs will be replaced in due time. What that timeframe is can be speculated all day long.

+1. Good Post. Finally someone connects the dot correctly based on facts.

The Farang isn't making stuff up. I'm not trying to be a 'debbie downer'.

Do you even know the history behind those 200's? By your comments you seem like a newb. I'm guessing not since you MIGHT have two years here. Don't believe everything you hear from Spanjers. Remember Foley? Of course not...

What is blue tail flying? If the 200's are covering for the 900's are the 900's not doing 'blue tail' flying either? Or do they only put painted 900's on 'blue tail' flying?

Our contract has been amendable as of January of this year (2009).

Put two and two together. Will history repeat itself?

What is your contract has to do with anything?

What is the history behind the 200's? Do you even know?

Blue tail flying does not have anything with color of the aircrat. Comair does some of the Northwest Airlink flights using Blue Tail aircraft.
