Wearing our hats on September 11th
#31
since the hat is an issue because some airlines don't require it, so people did not buy it then how about wearing a red, white and blue ribbon pin on your tie. I still have the pin I was given 2 days after 9/11 that I have worn on my id's since I got it. Who care what we wear as long as we remember out brothers and sisters that lost their lives in the worst day in our history. Also don't forget the 347 fire fighters that ran into the WTC and never made it out plus all the police, port authority and others that were trapped and the people in the pentagon. Make a PA announcement for a moment of silence at 0846 east coast 1246Z when the first plane went into the north tower, 0903est 1303z for the south tower 0937est 1337z for the Pentagon, or 1003est 1403z for the hero's aboard United Flt 93. Just do your part in honoring the memories and pay your respects how ever you feel fit as I will after loosing a few friends that day.

There is also an excellent book about the flight crews on 9/11 and ATC called, Touching History, The Untold Story of the Drama That Unfolded Over The Skies of America on 9/11, by Lynn Spencer. Two of my fellow flight crews from YX are in this book. It is a great read and every pilot should read this book. Heck, every kid in America should have to read this book.
