Magically RAH doesn't exist. Very nice find. I wonder if it takes into account work rules etc. I can't believe that ASA would be the most expensive.

Ah ok I found CHQ but still no RAH. I don't see how US Airways is less than DAL.

That is interesting...would have like to have seen an article as well - I think it would have been well-written.

US's payscale pales in comparison to DAL's...

SKW: $127/hr
UAL: $278/hr
DAL: $258/hr

WOW mainline pilots are overpaid, how can they operate at those numbers? (note sarcasm)

What’s the average number of seats per a/c at the regionals? 50ish? (EMB 120, Saab, Dash, CRJ2/7/9, ERJ 135/40/45, EMB-170/75)

What’s the average number of seats per a/c at mainline? 180ish? (737, A320, 757, 767, 777, 747)

Now apply the numbers.

SKW: $127 / 50 = $2.54 per hour
UAL: $278 / 180 = $1.54 per hour
DAL: $258 / 180 = $1.43 per hour

Interesting isn't it? We at the regionals are underpaid but our cost per hour per seat is higher than mainlines. I know there’s more to it but I just wanted to bring those large mainline numbers into context. When mainline Mgmnt makes the claim that their pilots are overpaid I can't help but laugh.

It is sad, but we knew this already.

Colgan does it for half the price of Express Jet and Express Jet does it for half the cost of CAL.

You can take it a step further too. It's not just about hourly costs but cost per seat mile. If a Saab takes twice as long to get to it's destination as a jet, it's going to double your hourly factor given the cost of the trip.

"A lot of the first officers I know are almost angry, and some are even jealous of their friends who went into other fields and made big money right out of college," Fulks said.
Man, thats some lucky friends, because what it really sounds like these days is happening is people coming out of college either can't find work at all or are working long hours at UNPAID internships.
