Proposed rest: 8 -> 10 for rest, 16 ->14 duty

Exactly. Mgmt would be ****ing themselves if they could schedule small props 10 hours of flying a day. 1900 guys would be rocking 13 leg days and Saab/Dash guys 10 legs a day.

It would like it does now...they have to block realistically. If they consistently need legal-to-start-legal-to-finish relief to complete the schedule, it is not realistic.

We've been doing the 10/14 thing here at PenAir(135 time/duty exemption)...If you have long legs it works really nice...rarely do we do more than 6 legs though...but you could end up flying a ton more unless your contract caps the amount of hours you can work...we're all looking at around 120 hrs this month...

Overseas perspective
Currently working overseas. 2 man regs:
Max duty day 14 hours reduced by 30 minutes per leg
Captain only discretion to extend up to 2 hours
Rest= Double the flight time with minimum of 10 hours
Not as many days off as the US but fatigue not a real issue.
Works very well.

As I recall, ALPA was against the 10 hours flight/14 duty idea in 1995. "We don't want to fly 10 hours a day." I never could get it across that the extra 2 hours rest every day would make up for the company building a 9.5 hour day every once-in-a-while. And I'm like GM, they need to at least raise the 7 day limit to 50 hours.

I really like the reduction of duty time based on leg numbers. That helps guys like me who fly many short legs in one day. This helps keep mgmt from scheduling 10 leg 14 hour duty days. Under this plan a 10 leg day would have a duty day of 9 hours
