You will all raise hell over this, BUT I think that the cellular telephone needs to remain OFF when you check-in for duty UNLESS the company pays for it. I am just as guilty as the next, but when I was a Captain. To the greastet extent possible I utilized the radio or landline in operations.

- Walk Slower-Why rush to a gate on the other side of the concourse? Dispatch should have tail swaps for flights that depart more then 3 gates away.No more rushing into the gate area with your crew while the passengers clap and make smart comments like 'finally!'.I have never seen a doctor run from one room to the other apoligizing to his patients.
If you are really feeling spunky, feel free to call dispatch if you know you are swapping aircraft. The only way I know what gate a flight is on, is to look up each one individually. Generally speaking, I do not have the time or desire to do that all day long. Listen, we don't like you to swap either, it creates delays, which we usually hear about. Maybe we can do something about your a/c swap, maybe we can't. And don't get any conspiracy theories going. If we tell you we cant do something about it, it's not because we don't like you, it's because there is generally a reason a given aircraft is on a certain line.

Seniority system that's strictly based on DOH and nothing else is what's really killing this profession if you can call it that. When you have former 757 international captains sitting right seat to a 3000 hour wonder kid because their airline went under while making pittance of an apprentice salary, really, how is that considered defending the profession?

I just cant wait to start raising some hell.My first airline is dead, it gave all its flying to regional aircraft, then swapped out the smaller rj's for aircraft that mainline companies fly. This will be the future of regional flying unless we start some ******* with management everywhere.
