Well I would imagine Congress will at least entertain a few pilots (i.e. Sully) in front of the microphone. We may not all end up making a $100k a year pay raise but at the very least the NTSB's fatigue issues will be addressed. That alone would make our lives just a little bit better.

If Brock Samson was here, he'd take care of business.

As soon as the "next big story" comes along...eg.."Paris Hilton makes a porno" or Brittany Spears shows the world her hoochie hoo"...this crash will be old news and forgotten about. Just my opinion..We will see..

No kidding. Has anybody heard the media bring up the crash in Kentucky, you know the one where the regional pilots took off the wrong runway? I haven't.

I'm just worried that if they do regulate this then airlines will no longer work with us at all with a commutable line or even a commuter clause. This could turn into shooting ourselves in the foot. Granted that this is just one of MANY possible outcomes.

I still feel this is just grandstanding by politicians. If he really wants to do something he can talk to his buds at the FAA about working on duty and rest periods.

And as far as pay goes, what will come of it? Will he leglislate that all airlines have to pay pilots a minimum wage?

I would say its simply impossible to live near cities like NYC with what most of us are paid. Eliminating commuting would be bad for everyone involved. I would imagine that even the politicians can see that commuting isn't done because its a perk, its a necessity. If they decide to do away with commuting they also better be ready to pay "cost of living" bonuses like they do for the rest of their employees.

Frankly, if I could live decently in the area, I'd LOVE to not have to commute again.

Well at RAH our contract would protect us from things like this but since the company only prints copies of the contract so they have backup paper on the toilet The FAA getting involved might not be so bad.

I think the FAA should extend it's services to contract enforcement taking that power away from our unions that have gone lazy. If my contract is violated I'd love to be able to email that violation to the FAA and have them lay the law down on them.
