I'm surprised to her you say that as the two people I know with CS degree's are die hard UNIX guys. Anyone knows that the DOS platform is nothing compared to UNIX which is the platform OSX is built on.

I'll give it to the Linux guys, Linux is a pretty solid operating system, but no ones going to disagree that it's not somewhat obscure when discussing popular OS's. So between Windows and OSX it's a no contest in my opinion.

I haven't seen any local state governments banning the use of OSX, but I've seen them ban the use of Windows Vista, what does that say?

Ok, first of all the reason I got a Mac is simply that they are better in almost every way.

Prior to getting my Macbook I was using two PCs, an HP desktop, and a Dell laptop. Both caused me nothing but grief. Features for PCs are very basic by default, although they often come with a bunch of junk trial software. Inevitably you end up having to download third party apps that either cost money, are loaded with spyware, or are just junk, often all three. Every time you install a program it messes your computer up just a little bit.

Macs actually come with a lot of useful software and when you have to download something it doesn't mess anything up. If you don't like it all the program files are in one folder so all you have to do is drag it to the trash and It's gone!

And then of course there is the better hardware, and the cool ergonomic features such as expose, dashboard, spaces and so forth. I could go on and on. It's like night and day. There really is not comparison, Apple makes a vastly superior product.

I am a very cheap person by nature, hate spending money. Macs are indeed a little more expensive, although the Mac Mini starts at like $600, but in my opinion having a computer that doesn't annoy the hell out of you isn't a luxury, its a necessity.

Anyway, back to my question. Since my last post, I have gotten a program called VMware Fusion, which actually lets me run Windows and Mac OS similtaniously. I use the windows virtual machine both for logbook pro and for the stupid Talon website my flight academy uses which only works on Internet Explorer. So my problem is essentially solved.

However, I would still like to get log ten because it is a better product. For example, you can enter start and end-times for a flight and it automatically calculates how much of the flight was at night. The interface is also better. So does anyone have any idea how I could sell my logbook pro subscription?

I'm not looking to buy Logbook Pro as I was able to duplicate ALL of the features Logbook Pro and LogTen has to offer in a spreadsheet.

You say you want to sell you logbook subscription (I assume you meant Unlock Code), but you don't offer a price you want to sell it for. Secondly, I doubt you'll be able to sell it because, most software applications uses certain information about the computer it will be running on to create a unique unlock code for that computer.

As for the Iphone, since i'm sure that the reason for the switch, its very simple to export the data from the Iphone into a spreadsheet, therefore you won't have to spend a 100 dollars just to be another glorified spreadsheet.

I may be wrong, but I believe that this may be related to cost savings initiatives an not useability. Because they were referencing costs of upgrade and not stability issues. I have Vista 64 on my laptop for work and I have never had any stability issues. As per unix and Lynux I have not used them to be honest. The fact that they are open source is a huge benefit, but I have personally never found a good use to go through the hastle of learning another OS.

Just my opinion here....

I would hold on to your Logbook Pro codes until you at least try out the free LogTen trial software for a little while.

For a number of years I used Logbook Pro on my laptop PC, until I acquired a Mac and decided to 'upgrade' with the LogTen program. Long story short, I paid my $99 and got the program and was, quite frankly, disappointed. This has nothing to do with the PC vs. Mac argument. In my opinion Logbook Pro offers a better product and produces what professional pilots look for long-term. LogTen on the Mac does have nice graphics and certain 'cool' features, but overall I don't feel its the best fit for what many professional pilots look for. I know several others who have tried both and returned to Logbook Pro.

FWIW, this might be helpful to you....or you might enjoy LogTen and just go with that. I would definitely not write off Logbook Pro simply because its a PC program though.
