Has anyone had problems holding a Green Card and getting interviews, and even training dates anywhere recently? If so what regionals are big on that and stay away from green card holders...Thanks to anyone who can give me more info...

I'm a green card holder myself. but right now i am just busy studying for ppl and worrying about check ride. That's a good question u've asked i was curious about that too. For me i think by the time i get all my ratings and everything i mean in five years i can apply for citizenship and i'll be citizen. I hope that won't be a problem to me. But i'm still not sure.

I too am a green card holder. Although I am currently only instructing, I'm not too worried about when the time comes for a regional, or any airline for that matter. From what I have read for most places you need to be a U.S. Citizen OR have the right to work in the U.S....Green Card will cover that. Hope that helps some.

The above information is correct. You can work in the US with a green card and when you travel international you present the passport from the country of citizenship. My father did it for the years he had to wait for citizenship and had no issues.

I'm a greencard holder (Australian Citizen by birth) and am now working for my second regional airline. I have never had a problem. I had a friend who interviewed at American Eagle and when they found out he was not a Citizen they said they weren't sure what to do with him but that was a couple of years ago. I had an interview at American Eagle recently and it was not a problem. I turned them down though to work at ExpressJet.
When you fly internationally you just show your greencard when coming back through customs. That is your permit for international travel also. I also carry my Australian passport but they don't usually ask for it. They just scan your greencard.

What if you're from a country where the passport is not so popular with other countires? Don't you need a visa?

Alright, first of all I am a US citizen but MANY of my friends are not. I know Etops 777 is from another country and she was hired by Mesa cleared the check for the green card but then turned down the job to work for Republic on the E170 so both of these airlines hire green card holders. Mesa is notorious for taking a long time to run the background check though. Be prepared to wait at least 1 month after hearing the job offer I know 1 guy there that took 3 months (he was from Canada go figure). Good luck

ok you can start the process on flightschoolcandidates.com (or gov) suggest you start asap. Get photocopies of your passport and every certificate. The process sucks, but you need the information from the company that hired you, you will get a trainging request number, course ID number to fill out, the airplane you will be on etc. Technically you can't start class until all that has been cleared. So the day you find out you got hired somewhere ask for all the information. You will have to pay a $130 dollar application fee, and then you must submit finger prints.
When you submit finger prints make sure you do it digitally so it doesn't take as long. (they will proivide you a list of places for finger prints).
Communication is pretty much all done by email. There is a telefoon number you can call, you have to leave a message and they will call you back asap. They are pretty good about that. (7035421222) Maybe they can help you out alittle more.
Good luck, like I said the process sucks, so the sooner you get your stuff done the better.
